There are death notices for Louise Kramlich survived by Chas. in Milwaukee's German newspapers. Chas. published a customary follow-up Danksagung notice too (public thanks).
In case you're related to another earlier Kramlich generation, the German papers had probate notices in the 1850s for a John Kramlich. He was survived by an Elis. with minor children. Later on there are also notices an Eliz. Kramlich, that is likely that same widow, Mrs. John Kramlich.

"Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).
Gary Rebholz, compiler/editor
Milwaukee Wis.
gary.rebholz@gmail.com
Indexing Milwaukee's German newspapers continuously since 2007... helping family researchers collect evidence of our historic German-American culture.

I live in Great Falls, but familiar with Judith Basin County and a great-niece of the McLeish of McLeish Cemetery. Could you email the photo to me? I'll see if I can recognize anything in it. I've been doing some research at the local genealogy library and I haven't been able to find either mother or daughter in the records. geneamerle@yahoo.com

I'm attempting to locate 2 graves buried at perhaps "a small cemetery" in Judith Basin Co, MT. I have a photo of these 2 graves (Rebecca Watkins, death 1899 and daughter Maggie, death 1904) and can send to verify. I was sent the photo from a relative but she did not know location either or can remember who sent her the photo. Rebecca is my husband's great grandmother. I've looked at Lehigh and the fence surrounding it does look "similar" but my photo shows no barbed wire. McLeish Cemetery might be a possibility too but graves are not listed. Perhaps just not photographed and listed on Find A Grave. This is a mystery I'm attempting to solve.

I would like to request a look up for any records concerning James and May Dwellinger--May also known sometimes as Easter or Esther May--sometimes she also is seen as Mary. Anyway, are there any records of this couple in Judith Bason Co.? In an obit from 1916, May's residence is given as Dubuque, Montana. On an old place names list, it says Dubuque was in Judith Basin County. Can anyone tell me where it was and suggest further places to look? I think James may have died there. May went back east and dies in Missouri. Thank you

Hi,

I didn't find anything on-line about James's death. However, the Central Montana Genealogy Society, www.lewistownlibrary.org/genealogy.html might have more information about him.

I did find the following for a James Dwellinger.

James Dwellinger, rooms 232 E. Park, 1906, Butte, MT.
James Dwellinger, miner, res 637 S. ARizona, Butte, MT.
James G. Dwellinger, miner Black Rock Mine, res 1150 Curtis, Butte, MT.
Source: all Butte City Directories.

Dwellinger seems to be an unusual name and he might be your James. If you decide to follow this lead, you can contact the Silver Bow Clerk and Recorder, 406-497-6335 or http://bsb.mt.gov/departments/finance.asp and scroll down to Clerk and Recorder. They have access to death certificates. Successful Searching!

Thanks very much! I'll contact the Judith Basin County Free Library and see what they can tell me about it.

At this point, even knowing when the dam was built can help me narrow down whether the Doukhobors may have had a direct connection to the dam, such as helping build it, or whether the name has more indirect associations with the group.
Greetings,

I'm a researcher and writer in Regina, Saskatchewan Canada and I'm desperately hoping somebody can help me. I'm researching the Doukhobors - a Russian religious group that settled in the province of Saskatchewan in 1899. Now, I recently came across a reference to the place name "Doukhobors Dam" in Judith Basin County, MT and was intrigued, as I wasn't aware of ANY Doukhobor connection in Montana. Was it built by the Doukhobors? Or was it just randomly named after them?

Would you know, or could you please direct me to, anyone with historical knowledge about the county who might be able to assist me in better understanding why a dam in Montana was named after the Doukhobors? Thanking you in advance for any assistance you could provide me.

Best Regards,

Jonathan J. Kalmakoff
Regina, Saskatchewan
CANADA
