I am seeking information from local newspapers about a death in Hingham, Hill Co., Montana on Jan. 5 1914. This was reportedly a death "by shooting" and the victim was Rufus Ladwig, who apparently lived in Gildford, Hill Co., MT at the time. Can any one tell me what newspapers there might have been, or advise how I could obtain a look-up of the information? Thanks for any assistance.

Monday, JUNE 4, 2007

I would like to have the assistance of a resident in Havre, Montana who can call the County Clerk's or County Court Clerk's Office at 406-265-5481 to get information about marriage records for me (I do not have a telephone). I would like to order a certified copy of a marriage that occurred in 1940 in Hill County and I would like to know what the fee is and whether access is restricted to family only or whether anyone in the general public can order the document and what the estimated processing time is (can a resident come into the office in Havre and pick it up the same day or not?). This is an important matter, and you can contact me directly at my e-mail address instead of cluttering up this message board with responses.

I do know that the marriage definitely occurred and I do have the names of the bride and groom and the exact date that it occurred.

keith345@hotmail.com
GENEALOGICAL RESEARCHER
------------------------------------------------------------

I am looking for a nice person who has access to Highland Cemetery in Havre. I would like a picture of my great grandfather's grave. I found him listed in Highland Cemetery in Block 1 Lot 36 Space A. His Name is Robert Smith. I have his death date as 3 Apr 1928 and he is listed as 6 Apr 1928 (I imagine this is the burial date) He was born 1 Nov 1876/78. If someone out there can do this for me it would be so wonderful, I live in Australia so I don't forsee getting there myself. It would be easiest if you have a digital camera, but if not I will wait for a print and provide my snail mail address.

Thank you so much for your help.

Kindest regards!
Shanan Anderson

genealogy@iprimus.com.au

BAUER, Louis John b. 06 Aug 1869

I am interested in information about the origins of the family of my great-grandfather, Louis John BAUER in Havre, Hill County, Montana. He was born 6-Aug-1869 in Washington DC and his parents were both from Germany. Her married my great-grandmother, Margaret VON WALD (b. 20 Mar 1863 in Wisconsin) first. And then he married Maggie (Mary) KINNON or MCKINNON born in Ontario, Canada, 1883.

Family story-telling has it that he homesteaded in Havre (township 33, range 15, section 25) and travelled with his first family from Minnesota by Covered Wagon to claim his land. This would have been sometime around 1900-1910. He raised his second family in the 1930's -- and at the end of his life I believe he was living in Washington State.

Information I have on him can be found at http://www.tefredrick.com/genealogy/ under the link "BAUER".

Did he have siblings in Havre? Does anyone know the origins of his parents from Germany -- what town, kreis, and state?

I am looking for any information about either the Taylor or Lunsford families.
The Taylor's, Milton and wife Anna M. McNeill moved from Chinook, Blaine Cnty before 1920. They homesteaded somewhere near the Rocky Boy Reservation.
One daughter, Mildred Taylor married Alfred Lunsford about 1920 (+ or -). They had 5 children who were raised by the Taylors from approx. 1930 until the early 40's.
I am seeking information regarding Alfred and/or his family. I have been unable to locate a birth or death certificate for him. If someone has access to records from that area/time I am hoping to find a death record or reference to his death, which I think may have been about 1935 to 1940.

Genealogy Look Up Forum is a website of volunteers who will do various types
of genealogical look ups for those researching their family history. Please check
our website out and bookmark it for future references. We also get new volunteers
added weekly, so please keep checking back for new volunteers. During 2005 we
will be doing some major changes to the website to make it easier to navigate
and also look more appealing for our visitors.

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~genealogylookup/

Genealogy Look Up Forum now has a Temporary Chat room. This one is only
a test version to see if many people will use it or not. If the chat room usage
shows a great need, a new updated version will be made to take it's place
with many great features.

I hope to see some of my family cousins and genealogy friends in the chat room
sometime. Thursdays we have open scheduled genealogy chat.

NOTE: Please do not ask me for a look up. The website has some volunteers listed.
It also has a message board and a mail list that volunteers do answer requests.

I found John J. Hoban (a great uncle) and wife Margaret with children on the 1910 Census in Havre. Margaret is supposed to have died there about 1915. I would very much like to get her death record. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks for taking time to read this. Kathy Nelson (and Nancy Hoban - granddaughter of John J. Hoban)

I am trying to locate anything on Alexander J. "Alie" McDonald who appeared on the 1920 census for North Hingham. It showed him to be a dairy farmer, living with his wife Eda, and his nephew Albert V. Larimore. Alexander was born about 1892, in North Dakota. I have been unable to locate him in the 1930 census. Anybody have any further info? His mother was a Malcolmson.

Matador Ranch -- RED Payne

I am researching Red Payne who was with the Matador Ranch which was in Blaine, Hill, and Phillips Counties. A relative of mine George Sherrill Payne was there as ranch manager for a number of years (1915-1930). He was known as RED. At one time the Matador Ranch was the world's largest Ranch. It had holding in Texas, Montana, and Canada. It was also associated with the Circle C Ranch which had belonged to the family of famous western writer Walt Coburn. I am interested in corresponding with anyone who might have an interest related to the ranch during the time period of 1915 to 1930. I am especially interested in finding pictures of cowboys on the ranch, diaries, stories, of cowboys, and pictures of Malta during that time period. Thanks David

In 1902 brother John died and his obit shows Fred living in Havre, Hill County, Montana. His father's name was John Peter Nystrum and his mother Maria Nyquist Nystrum. I did find land records for Fred also indicating he was in Hill County. Please, if someone knows anything about him let me know. I would be glad to share with you what I have compiled regarding his siblings. His sister Emma is my great grandmother. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Elise.

Havre High School-Special Search Request. PLEASE?

My mother had a half sister named Cleo Cool. She was born in approximately 1918 so she might have graduated from Havre High in 1936 or around there. There is a site for Havre High but not for the class of 1936-1941. Might anyone have a line on a reunion for 1936 or 1937? Most important reunions would be 1956/1957 or 1966/1967. They usually try harder to find the remaining classmates on the 20 and 30 years.

Other names that might be in that same year are: Agnes Krejci. Cleo might also have used Fenner or Hare as a last name but I'm pretty certain it was Cool.

Any help would be appreciated!
