I have found the Gottwig family in the 1920 census as living in
Billings,
Yellowstone County. I could not find them living in
Deer Lodge County. I have a 1936 Anaconda City Directory (Anaconda is the County Seat of
Deer Lodge County), and there are no Gottwig's listed. Since Mary K. Gotwig's death Index number indicates
Deer Lodge County, it is possible she was hospitalized either at
Montana State Hospital at Warm
Springs (mentally ill or senile dementia--Alzheimer's), which is 7 miles northeast of Anaconda, or perhaps at
Galen State Hospital (tuberculosis sanitarium) which is located about 9 miles northeast of Anaconda--both hospitals are in
Deer Lodge County. I suspect that if an obituary was published, it probably was in the "
Billings Gazette" which is published at
Billings,
Yellowstone County,
Montana. When people died in these institutions, usually their Death Certificates are found at the MT Dept. of Vital Stats, rather than in
Deer Lodge County. I found the following Gottwig family members:
