I am looking for any of the family of George Spahl senior or junior or the descendants of George and Mary Spahl. George and Mary had at least one son and three daughters. George senior was listed as cousin George in the adress book of Matt Stipec. I am doing research for Matt's grand daughter.

I remember this family as a very young child. I believe that in the 1940's they moved to a private home located at Warm Springs and that Mr. Spahl worked as a butcher for the hospital. There were 3 old homes on the main little street leading to the hospital grounds: the Spahl home, the Richter home, and the Rankin home (closest to the railroad tracks--and my grandparents' home). The Spahl's were good friends of my grandparents, and later on, my stepfather, Edward Lieurance, was very good friends with the younger George W. Spahl and they kept in sporadic contact through the years.

I seem to remember that Mary Spahl married a Mr. Smith and was widowed fairly early on. I think she worked as a bookkeeper for the Duvall-Wallace Hardware Store in Anaconda. She was a very close friend of my grandmother.

I hope you find this info helpful

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply but have just ran across your post from several years ago. If you are still doing research for the Stipecs I can certainly fill in quite a bit of detail as I am George and Mary Spahl's (of Anaconda, MT) grandson. I remember hearing the name Stipec over the years. I would be very interested as well in learning more about the connection between the Spahl's (formerly spelled Spalj, I believe) and the Stipecs. Hope to hear back from you!
Regards,
George R. Spahl

Hi George, I am the one who did the research for somebody several years ago. I personally remember the Spahl family, and my stepfather was a very good friend of the George Spahl who moved to Louisville, KY. They grew up together. If you give me your email address, I will send you a picture that has Genevieve Spahl in it. She was a member of the Croatian fraternity here in Anaconda. This was probably before her marriage to Mr. Ferkin.

Just respond to this post and put a space between each letter and/or number of your email address so that spammer programs cannot harvest your address and make mischief.

Neither of these are my families. At the time i was helping someone else. The Stipec i was searching ended up in Scaramento Cal. They came from Bribir Croatia and there are scatterings of them in Great Falls,Lewistown,Butte,Anaconda St. Louis. That is, Bribirtsi. Not all Stipec. Spahlj looks to be Slovenian. Sovenia and Croatia are both great places to visit.
