Dear KathyinMontana,

I want to thank you for posting the Clyde Penwell obituary. I would like to find descendants Clyde Penwell's family hoping to get some answers to questions that I have about his father n law William Hubberd. Clyde married Lucretia Hubberd 24 January 1911 in Brownsville, Cameron Co., TX. This obituary puts me one step closer to finding one of his descendants.

William Hubbard may have been adopted by a Hubberd family. About a year ago I came across some information where a William Hubberd was listed as the son of Peter Eichhorn, my ancestor. Peter Eichhorn came to Texas in 1846 aboard the Schooner Leo with four children, no wife was listed with him. In 1849 he had a son, Louis, born that was listed on the 1850 Medina Co., TX census in Peter Eichhorn's family, but no wife was listed. The mother of Louis was listed on the 1850 mortality schedule, having died in September, the same month that Louis was born.

About this time I was contacted by a descendant of Louis Eichhorn and this Louis has a son named William Hubberd Eichhorn, practically confirming that William was not going by his Eichhorn surname, but by the Hubberd Surname. Louis was raised by a doctor and his wife in Castroville Texas, while his father Peter Eichhorn moved to San Antonio, probably to find work and lived with his daughter Carolina "Lina" Eichhorn Rummel's family until his death.

I am also trying to find Frederick Eichhorn, another brother to William. I am now beginning to think that Frederick may also have been taken in by a family and like his brother William used a different surname when he grew up and that is why I have been unable to locate him.

At any rate I am sure that you don't need this information, but hope that my posting this a Penwell descendant will come along and make the connections, maybe also answering some of their questions. Thanks again for the following obituary.
