David Spencer and Annie Anderson had quite a few children including David James Spencer in New York in 1837.
David James Spencer and Anna M. Beavens produced a daughter Olive M. Spencer ("Ollie") who married Charles Clark in Iowa. Mr. Clark was born September 17, 1860 to George A. Clark and Rachel Blanchard Clark in Pennsylvania. The family moved to Iowa though Charles himself became a traveler in the West and a rancher.
Charles & Olive settled in Iowa then came to Montana in 1891 and settled on a homestead at Chalk Buttes in Carter County. Five daughters were born of their union. The youngest daughter passed away at the age of one month and the mother followed two weeks later on March 13, 1898.
Mr. Clark took his children back to Iowa and later brought them back again and placed them in a Catholic school at Sturgis, S.D. He left Chalk Buttes and went to Jackson, Wyoming. In 1919 (3?) he was back in Montana and bought a ranch on Pennel Creek in 191_. After a period he went into fox farming at Jackson and still later on started a fox farm in near Plevna (sp?). He went again to Wyoming and remained there until he retired from active work and made his home in Baker.
