Both of my great grandfathers worked in the mines around Bearcreek. I was wondering if there are any records available anywhere about the workers of the mines. My great grandfathers were Paul Van Breusegemm) and Vujo Repac

I don't know of any lists for workers of mines in Carbon Co., but if you hear of any, please let me know! I am reasearching Guy Olson and his son, Augustus Edward "Eddie" Olson. Guy was married to Nellie Peterson and lived in Red Lodge in 1910. Guy was still in the area in the 1930's. I know Eddie worked the mines in Holden, WA near Lake Chelan. The Holden Mine was sold to a church for use as a Bible Camp, they have a web site with a link for the history of the mine. Very interesting! If you know the name of the mine your ancestors worked at, maybe try a general search of the web for related sites? Good luck!

Hello Courtney. I do not have information about the mines
in Bearcreek, Montana. Sorry. Paul "Van Breusegemm was my grandmother Sylve's brother and I do have information about other members of the John Batiste VanBreusegem and Josephine VonVassen family which I have gotten over the years, and from my father who still lives. I would be happy to share with you. I hope somebody is able to help you get the records that you need. Please contact me via the boards or e-mail.

If you can find a way to read the 1920 census for Carbon County, Montana in the Bear Creek area you will find them listed as miners. H.Glen Brough is one of those listed on the same page are many others listed as miners. If some one had the time they could use the census to make a list. You could try and contact the Carbon County Historical Society to see if they have such a listing. I use Heritage Quest on line for the Census I am not sure if I would be able to send you those pages over the internet, that is something I never tried.
