Some time since Jas. Wallace and Jas. Hogan, two Texas county boys, found 16 German pieces of gold, mostly Gorman coins, 10 thaler coins. They were found on Jas. Haley's ridge farm, called the "backbone." Every once in a while the boys comes in and cash one of the coins at the bank.

Deaths
Kelly~In Rolla on Friday morning, Jan. 21, 1881, of pneumonia, MARGARET D. wife of Wm. C Kelly, aged about 39 years. She leaves 6 children, several of them quite small.
Dr. Ross, her brother, and her daughter, Mrs. Rutherford of Texas county, formerly Miss Alice Kelly, were with her at the time of her death. It is a sad loss to her husband and the little ones she leaves behind. She was buried yesterday afternoon.

An old man in Texas county, named Alemoth Hunt, was murdered in his door-yard. It is supposed he was murdered for his money.

Lodged in Jail at Lebanon
Lebanon, Mo., May 18.-Marshall Langston made an important arrest of moonshiners in Texas county last night, a distillery was destroyed and eight men arrested. George L. Moore, Thomas J. Wilson, Mack Benton, Henry McDonald, Henry Smith, Dennis Riordon, John Reed and Ralph Pickett were captured and lodged in the Lebanon jail.

Judge Jno. B Vance of Texas Co. died at his home on Piney River, on Friday, Feb. 2.

Mr. F M Dunham died at his father's home in Spring Creek Tp., on Monday night last of remittent fever. He was about 24 years of age. He was buried on Wednesday last in Texas Co., with the honors of the Odd Fellows of which order he was a member.

Schmickle~died at Sherrel, Texas Co., Mo., Dec. 11, 1885, Mr. Daniel Schmickle, aged 73 years.
Mr. Schmickle for many years lived on the farm now owned by W C. Riden on Beaver Creek, in this county and was a respected citizen. His widow and nine children have the sympathy of their old neighbors in their affliction.
