I am the great great grandson of John Black (1824-1856). The Cherokee descent many have ascribed from Ancestry Family Trees was not along the Black paternal lineage. YDNA testing, that is the DNA that is passed only from father to son, has proved direct descent from Scottish ancestry going all the way back to the 1400's. - Ronald James Black [FTDNA R-A7804; YDNA111 & the Big Y; FTDNA Kit #B76809; ytree.net B76809; ysearch.org SBAAE; GEDmatch Kit # A816154]. To say John Black descended from "Hunting Bear" "Running Bear" etc. has been researched and found to have started as a joke, picked up by others and saved from hints. This has now been totally disproved by many men who have had their DNA tested, revealing John Black's direct lineage of Scottish descent. Any who have Native American ancestors of a John Black have the wrong John Black. Please encourage others who still have the fake Indian names as parents of my great great grandfather John Black (1824-1856) to remove them from their family trees. Thank you!
