To find many documents, I recommend the courthouse in Bloomfield. The people have always been incredibly helpful and pleasant and I also appreciate the Keller Library in Dexter. It has a genealogy section and lots of newspaper microfilm and books.

I am confident that others may have better ideas, but those are places where I found some great records.

Oh, have you come across the findagrave.com website? I first learned of it on this message board about three years ago. It is free and ever growing and helpful in finding gravesites.
