I guess I wasn't using the right terms or search engine! I have quite a few Creameans and Burton ancestors who were listed as "being of" Poplin, MO and went to the next town over to get married.

I suspected the town might have been abandoned or undergone a name change, but I wasn't sure. Then to find out that it was also moved -- that's some impressive info you found and I really appreciate it. Now I have to go follow those links so so generously provided! Thanks again!
