William Vanghause on 1850 census of St. Louis, wife Catharina, sons William age 3 and Charles age 1. Was he the Henry Benghaus (name altered in same handwriting on civil marriage record to Venghaus) who married Johanna Catharina Louisa Rose in St. Louis in 1845? Was he the William Winghouse with son Charles, age 11, on the 1860 census. Was he the deceased father of Emilia Finkhaus who converted to Catholicism at St. Joseph's in 1871, age 18: one of the witnesses was Maria Feller, nee Rose, wife of Christian Feller; Maria later remarried to Andreas Dilger.

Charles Venghaus married 1869 to Joh. Fdke. Heper in St. Louis; appears in 1870 census as Charles Finkhouse in household of father in law with family name spelled Hippe. They were in Ward 9, subdivision 16; same location as the family of Louis A. Bueter to whom Amelia Vinkhaus (William and Louisa Rose) got married in 1872. Amelia's 1924 death record gave her father as Henry Venghaus and mother unknown.
