HUSBAND AND WIFE PASS TO REST ON SAME DAY --
Two of
Bonne Terre's oldest citizens, Mr. and Mrs. Erick
Erickson, passed away from this life the latter part of last week within less than 24 hours of each other.
Mrs. Erickson who had semed to be in her usual health was found dead in her home by neighbors. Her body was removed to Benham's undertaking parlors and her children summoned to
Bonne Terre. Friends remained through the night with the aged husband and at five o'clock the next morning he also quietly passed away.
The son,
Emil Erickson of Rick [Rock ?] Island, Ill., and the daughter, Mrs. A. C. Dittlinger of Cape
Girardeau hurried here as soon as summoned, but arrived after the death of the father.
Erick
Erickson was born in AnnoWahlo, Stockholm, Sweden, September 28, 1842 and died on May 5, 1923 of old age. He came to
America in 186? to
Valles Mines. In 1873 he returned to Sweden where he remained for three years, returning 1873 [? this probably should be 1876] bringing with him his wife. They settled in
Bonne Terre where they resided since. The deceased was an industrious man. He had quietly spent the last years of his life about his home, after he was unable to work on account of the infirmities of old age.
Gustava Anna
Johnson was born in Lagalma, Borstill, Stockholm, Sweden on July 15, 1854. She was a kind friend, a loving wife and mother and highly esteemed by her neighbors. She is survived by the two children who were called here as originally stated. Mr. Erickson is survived by a sister, Mrs. Mary
Lindeman of Elvins, Mo., while Mrs. Erickson is survived by two brothers and two sisters residing in Sweden. Besides these survivors there are two grandchildren.
The double funeral services were held from Benham's Undertaking Parlors on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. F. V. Stephens officiating. The remains were interred in the
Bonne Terre Cemetery.
