Mary Elizabeth White Allen, daughter of the late
Carroll and Mary White, was born at Libertyville, St. Francois County, Mo., August 25, 1865, and departed this life at her home in Elvins, Mo., January 19, 1942, age 77 years, 5 months, 19 days.
She was united in marriage to Jim Allen in 1883 and to this union eight children were born. Her husband, three sons and one daughter preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons and one daughter: Charles and Ben Allen of Elvins; Lee Allen,
Madison, Ill., and Ruth Allen
McCrorey of Elvins. She also leaves two sisters to mourn her passing: Mrs. W. M. Jones and Mrs. M. Landrum, both of Farmington; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She professed faith in
Christ and united with the United
Baptist Church of
Doe Run as a girl and her membership remained there until her death. She lived a true Christian life and leaves a host of friends besides her relatives to mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the old
Pendleton United
Baptist Church in
Doe Run, conducted by Rev. D. D. Seger, pastor of the Elvins
Baptist Church. Interment was in the
Pendleton Cemetery. Sparks
