Thomas Ashby of Elvins [St. Francois County, MO] died at his home Sunday, December 12, 1926, at the age of 57 years. His death was caused by pneumonia, having been ill for ten days. He was united in marriage three times, first to Miss Margaret Danville, in the year of 1900, and to this union three children were born, one girl, Hattie, died at the age of 18 years, the other two are living: they are Mrs. Hattie Marler and Mrs. Rachel Layton of Elvins. The mother died in 1906 and he married Miss Ida Anderson in the year 1908, and one child was born to his union, Mrs. Rebekah Gurley of Elvins. The mother died in the year 1913, and in the year 1916 he married Mrs. Ella Marler. To this union one boy was born, Leland, 9 years of age. Mr. Ashby was a good neighbor and a splendid citizen. With his wife and four children above mentioned, he leaves two step-sons, Clyde and Garland Marler, and five brothers. The funeral rites were held at the Elvins Baptist Church, Rev. W. R. McEwen, pastor, conducting the services Tuesday afternon, December 14, at 2 o'clock. The Ku Klux Klan conducted the services at Woodlawn Cemetery, where interment was made. The News offers sympathy.
