Can anyone help me to identify Mahala, wife of Robert Miller? I've been
stuck on this for a long time. They were from Breathitt Co, KY. Robert is a
son of Stephen and Henrietta Miller of Perry and Breathitt Cos, KY. The
marriage records there are not complete so I have never been able to
discover Mahala's maiden name.

Robert is on the tax lists in Breathitt from 1845 through 1848. They moved
to Missouri around 1848 and lived in Crawford, Dent and Shannon Cos. From
the census records they had a number of children but I can't find any of
them after 1880. Most of the children would have married in Shannon Co, MO
or Marion Co, AR but those marriage records are also not complete.


Their daughter, Margaret, who married John Pride Towns, Jr. is my
gggrandmother. John died before 1880 and Margaret died a few years later.
For some reason John and Margaret's two daughters were taken in and raised
by neighbors, not Robert and Mahala or any of their children. What happened
to all of those Millers after 1880. I can't believe they all died. I'm
hoping to find a death certificate for one or more of them in hopes that
Mahala's maiden name is on it.
