Charles
Cleveland Morton was born October 22, 1884 in
Johnson County,
Missouri son of A. James
Morton and Ann Elizabeth
Downs Morton. He came to
Saline County at an early age and lived all his life here. He was a farmer and stockman for many years in the Sharon neighborhood. He was a member of the Miami
Baptist Church. He passed away at
Fitzgibbon Hospital on June 22, 1963 at the age of 78 years, 8 months. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 24 in the
Braun Funeral Home. Burial in the
Slater City Cemetery. His first wife, Nettie
Cline Morton preceded him in death in 1946. One sister, Mrs. Eula M. Meier preceded him in death May 9, 1963. Surviving are his wife, Anna May
Morton, three daughters Mrs. Olive Cotton, Mrs. Harry
Meyer and Mrs. Bettye
Benedick, five nieces, two nephews and many friends.
