Thank you so much for this information especially the news paper cuttings I was so trilled to receive.
John Reynolds attended Maynooth college he left before he was ordained a priest. John only informed his parents of this by letter after he boarded a ship for America. He did contact his brother Patrick about 1920 but sadly that seams to be the last time he was heard of.

Thank you so much for all your help and if you find anything more I would to have it thank you.

PS. If there is anything I can do for you in Ireland I will do my best to help you.

Best Regards
Ollie Harding.

Hi Grover Asberry was my grandfather, married to my grandmother Purlina. Her children were Patricia Elaine Asberry Halvorson (living) Joann Asberry Brocco Calley (living) Carolyn Sue Asberry Pierce (living) and Grover Wayne Asberry (living).
Joann, Carolyn and Wayne are Grover's biological children. We found out later in life that he wasn't Patricia's biological father, she did have his last name though.

Hope this helps.

I am looking for the descendants of John Reynolds and his wife Margaret Reilly.
John was the son of Patrick and Ellen Reynolds, he was born in Camagh County Longford Ireland his date of birth is unknown it might have been about 187?. At some point John emigrated to America. His wife's maiden name was Margaret Reilly that is all I could find out about her. I can't find a marriage record for them either. I did find out that they had three children they were Mureial, Gerald and Dorethy. That is the only information I have on him.
I would appreciate any information that anyone might have so I can finish my family tree.
You can contact me at anytime my email address is oharding9@gmail.com.
Thank you
Best regards
Olie Harding

NOTE -
There is a 20 yr. gap in the census records [1880 - 1900] as the 1890 census was burned in the 1920's.

I will be traveling to Reynolds County next month, and I am planning to visit the Genealogy and Historical Museum in Ellington. I am hoping that someone who lives in the vicinity or is familiar with the area will give suggestions as to other genealogical resources which are available. Are court, newspaper, land, and tax records available for the public to search? Do you need to contact the County in advance to search for certain records? My ancestors lived in Reynolds County from the 1840s through 1950. Some of the surnames I'm researching are WELSH, STEWART, BRAWLEY, and SUTTON. I will appreciate any suggestions or advice.

Hi Linda: Thanks for the contact. Very interesting concerning Morgan Potter's lineage. I research the Sanders to William Sanders who died in 1803 in Robertson County, TN. I've been looking for a male descendant of Lawson's to do dna testing for several years with no luck. I have very, very much on the William Sanders d. 1803 family and intend to publish in the next six months. I've worked on this about 12 years. I have dna from two different sons of William Sanders so am convinced we all go back to him. I am not a descendant of Lawson but have tracked him and his family and will include it in the book. If you would like to correspond further please feel free to contact me at charla56@consolidated.net Thanks again, Charla

I have a few Indian numbers that I am supposed to be related to but have not been able to trace the numbers back. I have been told so many things about my family and am just trying to prove any of it. I have traced where we started out in North Carolina, Tennessee, and some Virginia. I want to get a better idea of our history and would love to get some pictures of ancestors. If you have any information or ideas please feel free to contact me.

There seems to be much confusion regarding the mother of Elizabeth Barton (12 Feb 1839). Many resources note Mary Jane Reese and many others list Virginia Jane Shields. Do you have documentation concerning the correct mother for Elizabeth Barton? She is part of my family tree, my dad is from Mill Spring, Missouri. Really trying to get to the bottom of this. Photos show Elizabeth, she very much looks like her mother was Cherokee Indian. Thanks for your time!
Sandy (joiner3@gmail.com)

I am anxious to research Ms. Gallahar's past as my mother's notes indicate that she was a Cherokee Indian from Tennessee. Their children were Sarah Bailey, Pete Bailey, Bunyan Bailey, Reiley Bailey, Lizzy Bailey, George Bailey, Lillie Bailey and Otto Bailey.
Lawson and Matilda Simmons Sanders were my ggg grandparents. I would love to connect with other family from this line. My great grandfather--Morgan Potter-- was adopted. He married Mary Gossett, daughter of BZ Gossett and Mary Sanders (daughter of Lawson & Matilda Sanders). But his biological mother was also thought to be a sister of Mary's--probably Caroline Sanders. If anyone can help me with Info from this family I would really appreciate it.
Linda Potter Reynolds

There are a lot of maybes in this post. Any verification would be appreciated. And if any ‘don’t knows’ could become ‘knows’ it would also be appreciated.
Elvira Womble was born in 1846 (Reynolds County? Missouri?) and died in 1930 (Reynolds County, Missouri).
Her parents may have been Simon Womble and Sarah Sally Shrum (was that her maiden name??).
Elvira’s first husband was possibly John Wilbur Boggs; they had at least one child who was Wilbur Emanuel Boggs.
Her second husband WAS George W. Brown. Information on him is very very sketchy. He was possibly first married to Mariah Ellen Chilcote?? He DID marry Elvira Womble in 1878. They had at least four children: Mary Susan, George W, Franklin William, and Samuel.
George’s mother appears to have been named Rachel, but don’t know her maiden name. And I don’t have his father’s name.
Any information would be appreciated.
I just finished speaking with my 82-year-old mother. Her mother died around 1969, at the age of 87 (I believe, maybe 84). That, of course would be my grandmother, maternal, whose name was Nanny or Nancy Loudermilk at the time of her death, (a married name, and the interesting thing was that each of her husbands had been named William, and preceded her in death - William Alsip had been my mother's father).

Grandma had to have been born in the late 1880s, was born in Kentucky, which was where she was left to finish raising her siblings, following the death of both of her parents. Since she was the oldest of several younger siblings, I will subtract a modest 25 years to give an estimated birth period of her parents as around the 1850s.

My grandmother was apparently old enough to have learned something of her ancestry, which she shared with my mother. But at 82-years-old, and with health issues, Mom is certain of some facts, and becomes confused about others - because she had also attempted to trace her ancestry herself years back, and may have been given some wrong information. I believe that my grandmother's mother was a Manning (by marriage). Her first name may have been Mary. My I will loosely estimate (by a 20-year subtraction) that her birth would have been in the 1830s. She, I believe, was the grandmother who had been born to Nancy Whitecotton, whom my grandmother was certain was a full-blooded Cherokee. To subtract another 20 years, I estimate her birth around 1810s. Nancy's father was full-blooded Cherokee but at this point Mom becomes confused. She will often say his first name was Aaron, as if repeating her mother, but will then say that her geneology notes have him as Isaac Newton Whitecotton. Too, Mom talks of either Nancy or her grandmother Manning also marrying a full-blooded Cherokee. So far as I know, Nancy lived out her adult life in Kentucky, probably around Whitely county, as did her descendents up to my grandmother - who lived a large part of her adult life in Kentucky. They tended to have large families. My grandmother was a beautiful woman, even in her golden years, and clearly possessed Native American features. Mom tells that grandma used to wash her hair (Mom"s) in coffee to assure its darkness matched her own.
