Seeking info on Minnie L. (Town) Brubeck wife of John M. Brubeck

I am trying to establish a death date for Minnie L. Town/s. She married John Madison Brubeck 19 Feb 1907 in Platte Co. MO. (John M. Brubeck was born 15 Nov. 1880 in Valley Falls, Jefferson Co. KS, according to his MO Death Cetificate.)There was no death certificate for Minnie. She does appear in the 1910 MO Cedar Co. census and the 1920 NE Clay Co. census with John M. and their children.
Minnie is buried in Camden Point Community Cemetery in the Towns' family plot. There are no dates given. Does anyone know where the cmetery records are kept and who I can write to find an answer to my question?

We are searching for any old photographs that may have been taken inside the St. George Hotel (was also known as Exchange Hotel, Perkins House or Hotel, Hotel Weston)or copies of letters/post cards mentioning the hotel. It was built in 1845 and at first catered to traveling men, steamboat captains & wagon masters. In 1860 I believe G.W. Dye, formerly of Kentucky, was the hotel keeper. In 1870, the hotel keeper was John Throckmorton.

Any information on the place would be greatly appreciated.

He was listed with the family on the 1920 census in MO but that is the last time I have found him listed anywhere. Jesse is listed in the wedding book for my mother-in-law (she married Charles Edwin Gould in the early 50's)but there was no mention of Edwin Thatcher. My husbands Grandparents were Allen J Gould and Joan Thatcher Gould. My husband's father was named for Charles Gould (Allen's father) and Edwin Thatcher (Joan's father). Any information you may have on any of the Thatchers would be wonderful!!!

Dana

Seeking information of family of George W. Babcock, b. 1854. George was married at least twice, and his daughter Chiquita, presumably by his first wife, is related to our family.

George was farming in Pettis Township, Platte County in 1900. His new wife Cora appears on the census along with his children from his first wife - George D (1879), Doria R (1888), Raymon W (1893) and Chiquita (1897). Family lore says that Chiquita was an American Indian. The census indicates she is white. She has an untraditional name, but her old siblings have more traditional names. Was adoption of American Indian children common around 1900? Is that a possibility?

Any information on this family or American Indians in this area would be appreciated!

Regarding your comment about Chiquita being given to George Babcock -
Were American Indian children really sold or given as payment back then? Wouldn't George have rejected such a gift or purchase since it would only be one more mouth to feed? If Chiquita was not the biological child of Mary, the mother of the others, then she would have joined the family most likely after Mary had died which means an added responsibility for a widower. I'm not sure if I understand what his motivation would have been but admittedly do not know much about the interaction of American Indians and farmers in this time period.

You are correct that Chiquita is listed as White in every census and on her death certificate.

hi... Jeanne Farque here. Seems we will never find anything on J P Keen. You know more that I do on him. A year or so ago, I contacted the Methodist Archives to see if they had anything on him. They checked and told me they didn't. They said some people just "felt a call" and preached in that way. So the Holt county thing was news to me. Thanks. Someday we may have good luck here.
Jeanne

Andrew & Mary (Yount) Brown had 3 sons born in Jackson County, Tennessee, namely, Jacob, Isaiah, and Wilson G. Brown, from 1821, to 1830.

In 1833 they were living in Platte County, and a daughter, Sarah C. Brown, was born that year.

Would like to know if anyone has information on the Brown family for that time period. By 1841, the family was living in Nodaway County, where another daughter, Nancy Emaline Brown, was born that year. Any information on the family greatly appreciated. Thanks! Dennis

John Brown Family, 1857, Platte County

Would like to know if anyone has knowledge of John Brown, and wife, possibly Sarah, who had son, Charles Patton Brown, born in Platte County, on 9 July, 1857.

On the 1860 Nodaway County, Missouri census, John was age, 35, Sarah, age 23, Charles, age 3, and Ann Brown, age 70 were listed. Ann was evidently the mother of John. John was Tennessee born, Sarah was born in Missouri, and Ann was born in Pennsylvania.

Charles Patton Brown was my gr-grandfather and died 19 January, 1936. On his death certificate his father was listed as John Brown, with his mother's name and birthplace unknown. I would like to verify John's wife's maiden , as well as if Charles had any siblings and where John and wife are buried. I have a suspicion that Sarah Brown may have been a Patton before her marriage, but can find no proof. Any information about the family will certainly be appreciated. Thank you! Dennis.

Her family lived in Springfield, MO but she and her brother had gone to Parkville to attend Park College. She died suddenly, as a first year student.

Family records show she is buried at St Joseph Cemetery.
Dana,
I too have been away from the research for several years. However, I think you're gonna like this information. Joan Thatcher (your husband's grand-mother) was the sister to my father, Eleven Lincoln Thatcher. I last saw Charles and Joan Gould when they lived in the San Francisco area in the mid 50's. As I recall there was not a lot of interaction between them and the rest of the Thatcher family that then lived in Los Angeles. I met your husband and his brother during that visit in the 50's. I last saw your husband's father (Charles Edwin Gould) sometime in the 60's when he was a Deputy Sheriff near Lake Tahoe (I think El Dorado county).

Edwin Thatcher and Jesse Mae Lincoln Thatcher moved the whole Thatcher family from Edgerton Mo. to Albuquerque, New Mexico because Edwin had developed tuberculosis. He died in Albuquerque but Jesse took him back to Mo. for burial.

My father's name was Eleven Lincoln Thatcher. My mother was Ola Oma Weldon Thatcher. I have one brother named Lee Lincoln Thatcher (B: 6/29/35). He now lives in Washington State. Jesse Mae Lincoln Thatcher died in Los Angeles and is buried at the Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California. Jesse Mae Lincoln Thatcher had one sister named Jo Ann Lincoln who also died in Los Angeles. I was never able to find out much about Jesse Mae Lincoln Thatcher. Edwin John Thatcher (my grandfather because we have the same name) was a banker in Edgerton until he went to New Mexico. Jesse Mae had no trade but raised her family. Their children were Joan, Eleven, Charles, Mildred and Abe Shaffer Thatcher.
I have dates and locations for some of this information however, it’s in California and I am in Alabama. I plan to be in California over Christmas and if you want, I can retrieve it then.
Again – my e-mail address is e.thatcher@att.net
I would be interested in the information. My ancestor, Martha Hunt Leach married Jonathan Lawless and their last child was born while he was in prison. I thought the date was different. I was told that the Annals of Platte County, Missouri (SLC 977.8135 H2p) on 25 Sep 1884 p 51 state "Jonathan Lawless, apprehended, tried and convicted, is sentenced to 10 years in the penitentiary for the murder of [Mr.] English." He is found guilty of murder in the second degree (his wife Martha apparently did not come in as a witness for the defense.

I assumed he committed the murder in 1884, not in 1882. Could you give me more information on the murder or the Lawless family?

Thanks,
~Jen Endsley
