I recently have been in contact with a Hays researcher, RichardD Brattin, who is a descendant of Dr John Blain Hays brother of Andrew McKinley Hays b July 3 1798 married 1st) Elizabeth Baird b Aug 18 1800. Their son was William Hays who married 2nd) Frances Elizabeth Hawkins and they lived near New Hartford, Mo and had eight children. Some of their descendants still live in Pike Co MO.

I found that the parents of John Blain and Andrew McKinley Hays were: William Hays born 1774 in Augusta Co VA, died Nov 19 1829 in PIke Co MO and Catherine McKinley Hays,born 1871 in VA, died Feb 3 1866, place unknown, at present. Her parents were Andrew McKinley and Hannah Blain.

The parents of Wm Hays b 1774 are thought to be Charles and Martha Gilmore Hays, but at this time there is no verification. Wm's father is believed to be John Hays, -March 24 1741 proof of importation to America from Ireland-(from Annals of Augusta Co VA 1726-1871, pg 38 -Joseph A Waddell)
The siblings of Charles were: Patrick Hays, Maj John Hays, Rebecca Hays, Andrew Hays, Barbara Hays, Joan Hays and Robert Hays.
