Marriage Info

Looking for marriage info for Donald F. Englert (Englehart) and Wilda Billie (unk surname) in about 1940 or 41 in Rolla.
Can anyone help me with this question, and find the maiden name of the bride?
This is my sister-in-laws mother and dad, is info was easy to find, not so the mother's. My sister-in-law(former) is brick walling me as is her daugther.

I have a little more information on the family since my original post. I had ordered a copy of John R. Brown's Civil War pension file and found out that his wife was Rebecca Vance. The file also indicates that Alonzo was born 29 May 1882. If that matches with your Alonzo then it looks like we have a match. I'm connected to Alonzo through two branches of my line. Alonzo's first wife was Nettie Belle Patterson who died in 1907. Alonzo's sister, Inez (my great-grandmother) was married to Jasper Orval Patterson who was Belle's brother.

The information I have (land and census records) definitely points to my John R. Brown being the son of George Washington Brown and Mary "Polly" Newberry. I have quite a bit of documenation showing John and Rebecca living in the Rolla, Missouri area. I also have some guardianship documents relating to Alonzo. Since he was under 21 when John died, Inez was named his guardian. Those documents were filed in Phelps County and reference the land that John had farmed. This same land was once part of a parcel of land owned by GW Brown.

I'll send you a message using Ancestry's contact system so we can exchange email addresses. I would definitely like to exchange information with you. I know next to nothing about Alonzo's family with his second wife.

Quite a coincidence that we both have the first name Jacqueline too don't you think.

I have Walter and Priscilla Brown listed as Parents of John R. Brown Walter Brown was born 1805nin Virginia, and Priscilla was born 1806, I can't find them going back any farther, my grandfather was Alonzo Brown, John's youngest son.

I'm sorry to repost, but my computer crashed and I've rebuilt it with some data loss. Some gracious person (I believe associated with the Phelps Co. Gen. Society responded to this post about a month ago with some information regarding Gabriel Waters being buried in Texas Co.

If you see this post can you please repost of the information, as it was lost. I have confirmed that he was in the Civil War, and believe that this is information about him.

A man was hanged here on a post oak tree.

It is from a newspaper article from Sept 29, 1888.

It states that the man was taken about 1/2 north of Steelville on the Cuba Road and hanged from a post oak tree limb.

I have a copy of the complete obituary index from the library in St. James. If you can let me know the person's name, I can tell you if they have the obit. If it was only in the Rolla paper, the library in Rolla would probably have it, but I'm not sure.

I'm looking for the parents of Sarah (Hutchison) Brookshire. Their names are Joseph & Rachel Hutchison. I found a note that said they may have been living with thier daughter at the time of their death & be buried in the same cemetery as Sarah. Would you know what cemetery Sarah is in and if there is a Joseph & Rachel there also.

The people in this posting are descendants of another of the orignal Samuel Right Brookshire's [1803-1881] sons. These are descendants of Benjamin Allen Leadbetter Brookshire, brother to Samuel Andrews Brookshire. There are a number of Samuel Right Brookshires throughout the various descendants of 'the original S R.' The daughters who married, also named a son, Samuel Right: i.e. Samuel Right Hale and Samuel Right Bowen [died as a child],

I don't have any Hutchison info on my "Ancestry" tree, but I can tell you that Samuel Andrews Brookshire and wife Sarah Hutchison are buried in "Rhea Cemetery" in Phelps County. I have/had a Rhea Cem. listing, but cannot put my hands on it now, so at this point I'm not sure if Sarah's parents were buried there are not. [A death in the family and a move have caused some misplacement of my genealogy materials, which I have not yet overcome.] I thought there was a complete Rhea listing online, but I did not find all of it.

You might want to check out Missouri death certificates at http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/
I found one for John Thomas James b. May 20, 1840 d. Aug 13, 1910. His parents were Aaron James and Eliza Griffith. Although the death date does not match your John Thomas James, he did die in Dillion, Phelps, MO.

I didn't check your list of children.

hello...since writing this post, i have had an epiphany...am no longer searching for any information about 'oklahoma oil money'...have been roundly criticized by several folks for same, and as far as i can ascertain, nancy jane was born to a c and susannah jane dean...so, if/until anyone comes up with any information to the different, i am pretty well settled with the information i have..thank you all for your help and caring in assisting my with my 'genealogical journey'...

I am looking for any information anyone might have on the family of John Thomas James (May 20, 1840 – Apr 20, 1927) and Samantha Hopper (Feb 1849 – unknown)

I believe John Thomas James and Samantha Hopper moved to Dillon, Phelps, Missouri around 1885 and stayed until some point after 1910.

I continue to hope that someone out there can help me find info on my GGGrandfather, John Smith 12/31/1849 of South Carolina. He moved to Galveston TX where he was a captain at sea. He moved to Phelps Co. MO where he married MINERVA RAY. This was John's second marriage. His first marriage was to a Lucinda Ray who died approx. 1871 but had a child William Smith. He first shows up in the 1870 census married to Lucinda in Rolla, Phelps Co. Mo. I have most information from when he arrived in Mo. I DO NOT have his parents or siblings. That is where I NEED the help. Anyone out there know this JOHN SMITH. Children; William, Henry, Benjamin, Cora, Ida Mae, Lucinda.

Minerva Dean and other Deans (including Alexander and Susanna) are buried in the Laney-Smith Cemetery in Phelps County. Heartfelt appreciation to the ladies who took time to visit the cemetery and document the names.

I have February 17, 1883 as the marriage date of these two. My source is Arthur O. Dykes, their son, who now reside in Texas. I have been in communication with him off and on. He is looking for information on Margaret Frances Dickey Brown's half sister who walked with her from TN to Rolla, MO back in the 1870's. Her half sister was Emaline but I don't know for sure what her last name was. It may have been Hill but not sure.

I found an old newspaper article out of The New Rolla Era from 1888 and my ggg grandmother was listed.

The name of the school was a bit hard to read, so I am asking if anyone knows anything about a Hirschie school? If so, can you tell me any details, or Where it was? Is it still standing?

I am quite interested in the Dean family since the sister of Alexander Dean, Mary Minvera Dean produced many descendants in Phelps co. Names like Delashmit, Earp, Daugherty, Sandifer, Tourville, and Roach have ties to this Dean. I am not a direct descendant but am a descendant of the Earp and Roach family. I would love to add info to my data base and will share anything I have.
