Samuel Right Brookshire was born in Phelps County on 2/27 1875, son of the late Samuel A and Mary Brookshire. Following a lingering illness he passed away in Rolla Friday monring, 11/30 1951. Being 76 years, 9 months and 3 days of age. Mr. Brookshire was born and reared in this vicinity and was a member and last of a pioneer family. He also operated a farm at Beulah for a number of years and resided in this county all of his life. On Dec. 22 1895 he was united in marriage to Miss Sallie A Finder and 11 children were born to them. Mrs. Brookshire passed away in 1937 and four children, three daughters and one son passed away in infancy. Also four grandchildren are deceased. Surviving are two sons, Clyde of Rolla and Clarence of Richamond, CA; and 5 dau; Mrs. Howard Hedley and Mrs. Clarence Alvey both of St. Louis, Mrs. Frank biddle of Eugene, MO, Mrs. Henry Pohle of Richmond, CA and Mrs. Walter Whitson of Rolla. Also there are 18 grandchildren , 12 greatgrandchildren and a number of other relatives. Mr. Brookshire united with the Methodist church many years ago. He was a devout Christian and always deeply devoted to his family and friends. Funeral rites were from the Rhea Church at 2:30 pm Sunday, December 2. Elder Walter L. Bradford and Rev. N. M. Lovell, officiating. Burial was in Rhea Cemetery under direction of Null and Sons Funeral Home. Music Church choir. Pallbearers; Bill Frederick, Lee Cleveland, Gene Bittle, Vernon Alvey, Wilbert Harris, Elbert Whitson, Ray Paul and Henry Riley"
