A nicely "indexed" recording of marriages in Osage County, Missouri, sorted by groom/bride and filed by year range, has been uploaded to the internet at http://www.schwegler.us/gvcousins.html I found your marriage request listed there, spelling for Leisinger was typed Laisinger (either typo or alternate spelling for you to be alert to). The date you have seems to be accurate. Unfortunately, source citations (book number, page number, etc.) have not been provided. Additional information about this couple is reported that both of them were from "Portland". Good luck in your search for firmer documentation.

I am not in Osage County, so I can't help with any other land records.

http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/details/patent/default.aspx?ac...
I'm looking for a helping hand from a researcher who has worked with Osage county land records. My cousin and I just discovered that our g-g-g-grandfather, Thompson Stickle received a warrant for federal land in Osage county (Twp. 44, Range 7W, to be precise) in 1848. This was big news to us, since we have always believed that he lived and died in Ohio. We'd like to learn more about this land transaction, which took place in 1848. Our current thought is that he applied for the patent and quickly resold the land. If so, there should be a record of a land sale. (Right?)
Naturally, the relevant records don't appear to be digitized, and they aren't available online.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who is familiar with the land trade in Osage county during the 1840s and 1850s, especially if you have had 'hands on' experience with the records. And I would be incredibly grateful if a fellow researcher in the area would volunteer to do a quick scan of the 'grantor/grantee' indexes the next time you are at the court house, to see if Thompson Stickle shows up.
Thanks!

He was a tall, big framed man and had large ears and hands.

By today standards he and Emily Roak married quite young - he was seventeen and Emily was thirteen. During their early married life they made their home with his mother, Sarah, until they could afford to buy a place of their own.

He set up the David Baker Cemetery on his farm. He selected an acre of ground on a hillside close to a wet weather stream that is surrounded by timber. A very quiet, serene place. The road to the cemetery is rather steep and very rocky, making access with todays vehicles very difficult. It is not known who was the first to be buried there because the records have been lost; but, it seams reasonable to assume David and Emily second child, Nancy Baker, was the first to be buried there. Four of their 12 children, who died in infancy, are buried in a row that became known as the "baby row." He and Emily were buried in the row just behind where his mother, Sarah, is buried.

As life long members, their lives were centered around the College Hill Baptist Church. They are not listed as charter member but are named on the association minutes dated May 1876, the year the church was organized.
After William's estate was settled and his land sold in 1904, where did "Aunt El" move to? Did she move in with any of William's children? One source says she relocated to Phelps County. Does anyone have information on the whereabouts of Nancy Ellen Baker Jett after 1904? Death date and burial information?
Thank you, Debbie Cowick

Seth Strickland, b. 1791 possibly North Carolina. Is shown in a number of census with a Delilah. Some "hints" suggest Delilah's last name being Quick. The only record for a Delilah Quick is for a different marriage. He lived most of his life in Benton, Osage Co. I can't find any parents for him.

Her parents were Valentine Wolf, 1794 TN-1866 Gasconade, MO, and Mary J. Thompson, 1797 TN-1882 VA. I think Sally must have died in childbirth in 1846. Is this your family?
Hello, I am wondering if you can help me. I am researching our Sullivan family Line. They lived in the Missouri area from the 1850s through the turn of the century. We are not sure of the eldest parents names but understand that they passed away sometime during the Civil War in the Pest House near Ironton, Missouri. We were also told that this "Pest House" was later referred to as the "Poor Farm". They had several children that were taken in by various family and area people following their parent's death from the Small Pox. Two of the children were William Victor Sullivan (born in Dec 1859) and his brother, John L. Sullivan (born in August 1856). We believe there were two sisters, N.Nancy and Elizabeth (Lizzie). We believe there may have been others but can't be sure. William was reportedly born in Liberty, Iron County, Missouri and in all likliness, so were his siblings. We would love to know more about the family should anyone know. William Victor Sullivan married Etta Caroline Braswell, Lizzie married Nathan Oneal. A small note that a cousin has shared has some information written on it that, "the Sullivans were buried near the "Ivester Farm". We are not sure if there may be a cemetery there somewhere or that they were buried on what is now "private property". We would love to discover the whereabouts of their final resting place. Other families associated are the "Carnahans" Stevenson or Stepherson" "Hubble" "Oneal" and "MCfadden" Should you have any information, please email me at glendalecrazy@aol.com or give me a call at 406-465-5667. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I visit the Chamois cemetery often and believe there is an Evans stone in the Black Cemetery but will have to revisit and verify. I have a book on Chamois History that I will check, and I will also check with the city's burial records. Most of the stones are missing and the few remaining have suffered damage. I've used a metal detector to determine the location of dozens of now-unmarked graves there. FInd-A-Grave has images of the Black Cemetery if you are interested in browsing that site. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with as far as research in this area.

I suspect the orphan train also. In 1850, in Linn, there is a Lavica A Tindal, age 5, living with my Ephraim G and Elizabeth Briggs who were just married. There is also a James Tindal, age 14, living with a Robinson family and a Thomas Tindal, age 17, living with Michael Snelson. There is also an Eliza Tindal, age 7, living with a Perkins family in Benton. There were no other Tindals in Linn in 1850 nor was there a Tindal in Linn in 1840.
Thank you for your reply. I had missed Elizabeth's remarriage. I looked it up and then followed them through the censuses.

I'm still wondering if Ephraim G. is the E. Briggs who died in 1852 in St Louis with a liver problem, although the death record says he was born in Missouri.

Ephraim Grummon Briggs' sister, Mary, was my great-great grandmother.

William
You will want to find a copy of this book because it had quite a bit about her including a photo with her students, if I remember correctly. I had posted this offer on several boards and had a quick response from a relative and I sent it to him. I would anticipate that the county library library might have a copy that you read/ copy.

Nettie, the last email I sent came back to me, so I thought I'd try here. I wondered if you saw this post from a few years back:

Hello researchers,

Our family is trying to find a Lucretia Clementine (maiden name unknown). She was born abt 1800 in TN. She married a Wolfe bef. 1817. His name is most likely John. Our family has hit a brick wall. Hopefully someone on Lucretia's side or if the Wolfe she married's relatives that are unknown at this time are hunting also. She moved to Kentucky where she and her first son, William Valentine {Valence?}on 10 Dec 1817. From there the family moved back through TN, where she had her second child, Sally. Two sons, Nathan and John, were born somewhere between there and Missouri. Her four youngest children, Lavinia, Hampton, Simeon, and Ammon were born in MO. We are not sure if Lucretia and John were married in TN or KY.

I recieved an email today that indicated that John may have been from Canada or England. It is listed on a census record that William V is located in.

Happy Hunting,
Brandi

and also this one:

Re: Parents of Ammon Wolfe
Posted by: Brandi Qualset (ID *****3078)
Date: February 01, 2007 at 21:34:34
In Reply to: Re: Parents of Ammon Wolfe by Doug Corbin
of 50984

Thank you so much! I didn't know that you could find that online. I am sending it on to one of the people that knows more about the family than me to see what she thinks. I don't know as much about Simeon, but the birth year she has for him is very close to the one on the death certificate.

Then, of particular interest, although somewhat different:

Wolfe Family reunion
Posted by: Brandi Qualset (ID *****3078)
Date: June 26, 2006 at 11:35:17
of 4183

For anyone interested, there will be a Wolfe family reunion in Arkansas on 1 July 2006. The line we are researching is mainly George Washington Wolfe and Zella Delmar Coffelt. Although everyone is welcome. One of the main people we are trying to find is the grandfather of George Washington Wolfe. His wife's name was Leucretia Clementine. He has several children: William Valentine Wolfe, Sally Wolfe, Nathan Wolfe, John Wolfe, Lavina Wolfe, Hampton Wolfe, Ammon Wolfe, and Simeon Wolfe.
If you would like information on the reunion, or if you have information you would like to pass on to our researchers, please email me at brandiqualset@yahoo.com

Thanks,
Brandi
please e-mail

It seems certain Brandi Qualset is related to us but it was a very long time ago that these posts were made and I haven't found anything recent. You've been doing this longer than I have and I wondered if you had shared information with Brandi.

Thanks for any info you can share. I hope you are doing well.

Dont know if it helps, But I remember Dora Wolfe talking about having a relative that either helped build the Titanic or was on it when it set sail. She use to have a book she would show off but it has been lost for a very long time and no one remembers what the title of the book was. Being that it was contracted to be built by the Wolff shipping company and that it set sail from Ireland ?? Leaves me with more questions then answers but It may help others. TY
