I understand that several of my Fisher ancestors are buried at the Old Liberty Cemetery in Moniteau Co., Missouri - can someone help me locate a cemetery list for that area and that particular cemetery. Or tell me who to contact to get that information. Thanks.

Hi Leda, I have checked the Moniteau County Missouri History Book and Moniteau County Missouri Cemetery Books and find no cemetery called Old Liberty. Do you have more information about this cemetery? It may not be in Moniteau County? There are several family names of Fisher, Fischer buried in Moniteau County. Do you have more information such as first names, dates of death, etc?

HI Leda,
I was reading the Moniteau County Missouri History Book Volume II published in 2000, (page 59) it mentions a Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Township 44 N, R 17 West. The church now gone was formed prior to 1825. Civil War soldiers are buried here. It is located near Fortuna MO near the Moniteau/Morgan county line. This is a good ways from Tipton Mo. Could this be the same cemetery?

Fortuna was founded 1880 (page 15 Moniteau County Missouri History Book Volume II published in 2000) and was noted for its mines and several operated there with deep shafts. After the mines closed Fortuna became a local trade center. Fortuna was named after a Greek goddess, and was originally named Datsen, after a friend of the town's founder (page 150 Moniteau County Missouri History Book Volume II published in 2000)

I checked a 1850 Moniteau County Platte Book and did find this location. It just shows church cemetery on the map. A land owner near by was J Fisher. I have not been to this cemetery, and I don't know if there is any stones left or not. I don't know if there is any recordings of the persons buried there, perhaps someone else would know. Maybe you can start your looking at Civil War records for the Fisher's in Moniteau County. Hope this information helps.
