Could someone tell me if Samantha Clark that married H.B. Brown in Jul 1869 in Moniteau County, MO is the daughter of Hiram Clark and Mary (Polly)Hickman? Would anyone know what H.B. stands for? I also haven't found the family in the 1870 census yet. I was wondering if they moved. Of course, Samantha's brothers, George, William Alfred, John Wesley, and Henry Leeper seem to have remained in the county.

On the 1860 Moniteau county census Hiram Clark is listed as having a female child, S. A. who is 9 yrs old. This is surely Samantha A.
The 1870 Moniteau county census lists H. B. Brown and wife Samantha A. as living in Moreau township.
The 1880 Henry county MO census lists H.P. and S.A. Brown living in Bethlehem township with children, Hrry P. 3 yrs, Mary V. 5 yrs, Myrtle B. 1 yr. By the ages and birth places of H.P. and S.A. I am sure that this is H.B. and Samantha A. Brown.
If this Henry county listing is indeed the same couple and the male child is listed as Hrry P. (which I imagine was supposed to be Harry P.) Possibly H. B. stood for Harry. Just a possibility.
My husband's great aunt, Laura Pedego Clark was married to William Arthur Clark the son of Leeper Clark.
Hope this helps a little.
