I just saw your posting from last summer. I have not had much time to work on this recently. All the information you are showing matches what I have been able to find so far as well. It looks like Asa had 2 wives. Wife #1 was Isabel Cummins (children - Hanna J., Elizabeth, Mary Polly J.,Laney, & William "Boots"). Wife #2 was Eupha McMurry (children - John, Eupha Jane, & James Wesley). The problems I am having is the documentable link of John to Asa and Eupha. There seems to be a large period of missing documents related to this time (possible related to a fire at the Guilford Court House).

The family story that I have always been told is that John Carman traveled with the Carman & Gerringer Familys to Missouri then at some point he returned back to North Carolina to marry (1846) is long time love, Rhoda Caroline Cobb. They inturn settled where my family now lives. Through different records I believe the traveling occured in the Mid to late 1830s.
