Services Held For Mrs. Mary Laub Thursday
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Laub were held Thursday, June 23, at the Bartcher funeral home in Denison. The Rev. F.A. Smith officiated. Rebekah services were held.

Mrs. Burness Boslaugh and Mrs. John Haltorf sang duets of “In the Garden” and “One Sweetly Solemn Thought” accompanied by Mrs. H.E. Lehman on the organ. Pallbearers were Malcolm Heiden, Richard Lilleholm, Blaine Lilleholm, Herman Lorentzen, Tom McMahon and William Steuart.

Mary Eleanor Laub, daughter of Henry and Sarah (Baer) Snouffer [Sarah Baer was the sister of Lydia Baer, who was Henry C. Laub’s first wife], was born at Napoleon, [Livingston County], Missouri April 30, 1866 and died at the home of her son, Henry Clay Laub, in Council Bluffs on June 13. She was 62 years, 1 month and 13 days old at the time of her death.

She was about twenty years old when she came to Denison. Here she was married to Henry C. Laub on January 11, 1896 [date was January 4, 1896 per Denison newspaper article about wedding]. To this union one son was born. Mr. Laub died in 1910. Mrs. Laub maintained the home here until September 1944, when she went to live with her son in Council Bluffs, [Pottawattamie County], Iowa.

For many years she kept her home open to a brother [James Snouffer] and a sister [Lucy Snouffer] who lived with her most of the time. While her home was her first interest she was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge. Her husband, three brothers [James, William and Robert] and her only sister [Lucy] preceded her in death. The surviving members of the immediate family are Henry Clay Laub and his family.
