I'm looking for people who are researching the family of Margaret E. "Maggie" EVANS (born June 1864 in Illinois, died after 1930 in Sterling Township, Rice County, Kansas), who was married about 1890 to James W. DUFF (born April 1861 in Pennsylvania, died between 1910-1920 in Rice County, Kansas; son of Matthew and Eliza DUFF of Pennsylvania, who were in Centerview, Johnson County, Missouri in the 1880 census and then in Anderson County, Kansas for the 1900 census).
Maggie was the daughter of George M. EVANS (born March 1830 in Ohio; died between 1910-1920 in Rice County, Kansas) and first wife Barbara J. ?ALLISON? (born about 1838 in Pennsylvania, died after 1870). George Evans was in Suez Township, Mercer County, Illinois for the 1860-1880 censuses and then moved to Sterling Township, Rice County, Kansas before the 1900 census. He remarried about 1876 to Mary W. ? (born about 1848 in Ireland, died after 1920 in Rice County, Kansas).
The Indiana Genealogical Society was recently given photos of Maggie Evans and her brother, Rev. R.A. Evans, and we would like to give them to someone researching this family. If you have any further information on the family, or would like to claim the photo, please contact me directly at
