Info on Charles G. Brockman B: 1820 Kentucky, D: 1874 in Missouri. Married Nancy Cogswell. Think they may have "adopted" my gg grandfather, John Arthur Baker--he is with them on 1860 Census at age 8. If I have right Brockman, on the 1850 census shows Charles & Nancy with 4 extra people in house-one labled "cripple", one "idiot", one "disease" and an Elizabeth Barton, 13 yr old "orphan". Did they have a history of taking in people??? My oral family history is that John Arthur Baker was on the orphan train--train stopped in Levasy, Mo where JA Baker was taken in possibly by the Brockmans. Any info would be appreciated!!!
