Serendipity: One of the most charming family portraits I have seen is of the Lawrence Wesley Brown family that was taken in Clinton (Henry Co.) Missouri circa 1917. It appears on page 184 of the May-June 1987 issue of "The Genealogical Helper" magazine.

Lawrence Wesley Brown was born in 25 Feb 1811, married Mary L. Doyle on 05 Oct 1910. Mary was born 17 June 1885.

Children pictured are: Paul Edwin, Herbert Doyle (sitting on his mother's lap with a big smile for his daddy, who gazes fondly back) and Helen Clark.

Helen Brown Long submitted the photo and said that the day before the picture she tried to cut her own bangs, hence the strange hair cut.
