William L. Reck, son of the late William Reck and wife, Caroline, nee Stipp, was born at Stony Hill on 4 Oct 1889. He died at the St. Francis Mercy Hospital at Washington on 1 Aug 1978, in his 89th year.

As an infant, he was baptized at the St. James Church at Stony Hill and was confirmed in the same church.

He received his education in the Cedar Grove School and grew up in the area where he was born.

On 3 June 1915, he was united in marriage to Miss Lydia Brauks. After their marriage, they resided in the Stony Hill vicinity and remained there until 1917, when they moved to the Gerald area to make their home.

Mrs. Reck preceded in death on 3 Sep 1962. In April, 1976, he went to the home of his niece, Mrs. Leona Gerlemann, and in April of this year, due to failing health, he became a resident of the Sunset Nursing Home in Union.

Surviving are one brother, Arthur Reck of Ballwin; a nephew, Lorand Reck of Ballwin, a niece, Leona Gerlemann of Gerald; other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Oscar and Henry Reck, and two sisters, Laura Franke and Cora Gerlemann.

Funeral services were held from the Oltmann Funeral Home in Gerald on August 3. Interment was in St. Paul's Cemetery.
