Washington, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, in
Washington.
Mrs. Hays, the daughter of the late Ernest
Vaughan and wife Etta, nee
Kinnaird, was born Jan. 17, 1926, in Bloodland.
She received her education from Bloodland High School. On Feb. 15, 1943, she was united in marriage to Jack
Hays in
Fort Leonard Wood.
Mrs. Hays was a member of St. Peter's United Church of
Christ and Quilters of St. Peter's U.C.C. She was a cook for
Labadie School.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a granddaughter, Kristi
Hays.
Mrs. Hays is survived by three sons, Donald
Hays and wife Cookie, Union, Bill
Hays and Rose
Rousseau, Lawrence,
Kan., and Rick
Hays and wife Susan, Washington; two sisters, Irene Felton, Springfield, and Florene
Bates and husband George, Florissant; seven grandchildren, Jason

Cassie Hays, Charlottesville, Va., Erin
Simon and Mark, O'Fallon, Sarah
Morse and Kyle, Nashville, Tenn., Thomas
Hays, Carrollton,
Ga., Leslie
Hays, Leslie, and
Quentin Hays and
Germaine Josef, Capitan, N.M.; six great-grandchildren, Emily,
Aubrey, Elizabeth, Peyton, Ava and Elliott; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 29, at St. Peter's United Church of
Christ,
Washington, with the Rev. Paul
Koch officiating.
Interment was in
Bethel Cemetery,
Labadie.
Memorials to the Quilters of St. Peter's U.C.C. or St. John's Hospice are preferred.
The family was served by Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home,
Washington.
The Missourian
