In the Dallas Co. Old Plat Book 1846 - 1888 is the following:

Section 23, Township 36 Range 18
Calison, John Dec. 1855 E1/2 NE1/4, except for river.

There is also a Caleb Callison in Section 11, Township 34 Range 19, 1854, W1/2NW1/4 and in Section 18, Township 34, Range 19, 1858, SE1/4/SE1/4.

This might give you an idea of where they lived.

Have you been able to figure out the connection between the Callisons, Butchers, Jinkins (jenkins?), Guthries, and Richardsons?

I'm also very interested in the Richardson, Butcher, Callison connections. Would like to exchange ideas!

Mr Callison I am trying help my Mother-in-law find something about her Grandmother a Ethel Ora Callison who married William S. Graham app.1900.She was to have been from MO.(?) They had many children and a long life. But my mother-in-law wants to know more about her. She was once told that the Callisons were of American Indian desent. But U have been unable to discover anything anywhere! I would apprechiate anything you maybe able to tell me. Thank You Jean Nelson

Its been a couple years since you posted your message but I am also interested in the connections between each of those families. My gg-grandfather was Everett Callison who was married to Darthula Harrell. There marriage record listed Everett's dad as John Callison. I believe John Callison's wife was Eliza Poynter because John, Eliza and Everett were living in Miller Township, Dallas County in the 1870 & 1880 Census. My grandmothers notes said the Callisons owned the Callison Bluffs in Dallas County, Missouri. I checked old land records and found a John Callison owned that land until around 1898. In an earlier post in this message board someone mentioned that John & Eliza were burried in Turner Cemetery which happens to be almost directly on the other side of the Niagua River from the Callison Bluffs. I would like to find out more information about who John Callison's parents/siblings were. I know John was born in Tennessee.

In the 1870 Census Rueben Richardson (age 19, b. MO) and Vilga (age 5, b. MO) Barclay were living with the John Callison's family.

In the 1850 census I saw a record with a Ruben Richardson (age 51, b. TN), Polly (age 27, b. TN), Henry (age 25, b. TN), Abram (age 18, b. TN), Johnathan (Age 15, b. TN), Nancy Butcher (age 14, b. TN), Elizabeth Callison (age 12, b. TN), John Callison (age 9, b. TN), Jesse Callison (age 6, b. MO), and Jasper Callison (age 3, b. MO).

I'm thinking there's a connection but I need to find out more information.

How are you related to these families? I'm also interested to know if you've found out any additional information. Look forward to hearing back from you.

I am researching the Richardson family and have not determined the Callison connection.

Velga Barclay was Eliza Poynter's niece through her sister, Sarah Ann (Poynter), and brother-in-law, David Barclay.
