Earlene Sneller
Earlene Miller Sneller, 80, formerly of Newport, Ore., died Feb. 11, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis.
She was born to Earl and Lyda Miller in Boonville, Mo., where she was raised and graduated from high school. She went on to attend the University of Missouri, where she was elected secretary of the student body and received a bachelor’s degree in social work.
She married Conrad Sneller of Topeka, Kan. in 1954. They had two sons, Michael and Steven. Earlene went on to receive a master’s degree in social work from the University of Kansas in 1970. For many years, while living in Topeka, she worked at the Menninger Foundation. She later established a private practice in marriage and family counseling.
Upon retirement, Earlene and Conrad relocated to the Oregon coast. They divorced in 1994. Following the divorce, Earlene lived for several years in Newport, Boulder, Colo., and Eugene. She eventually settled in Corvallis to be close to her son and grandchildren. She had a beloved dog, Bijou.
She is survived by sons, Michael Charles Sneller of Potomac, Md. and Steven Eric Sneller of Corvallis; sister, Patricia Hopkins of Boulder, Colo.; and four grandchildren, Hannah and Sam Sneller of Corvallis and Laura and Lucas Sneller of Potamac, Md.
At her request, no service is planned, but a private family gathering will occur on the Oregon coast. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon, P.O. Box 1051, Philomath, OR 97370.
