Your Robert Smith sounds like my 3rd-great grandfather who married Syntha Pryor abt. Abt. 1852 and had 4 children: Isaac William Smith born 04 Aug 1853 in Cass Co, MO; Joseph Nathaniel Smith born 08 Sep 1856 in Cass Co, MO; Albert Edward Smith born abt 1862 in Texas; and Francis Smith born abt 1865 in Texas. According to the 1860 census in Sugar Creek, Cass, MO, page 773B, Robert Smith was born in Virginia. I am a descendant through Isaac W Smith and then thorough his daughter Ida May Smith. Two questions for you: What is your source of information that Robert Smith was born in Clay County, MO (and can I get a copy of it)? and how are you related to Robert Smith.
