Researching my gg-grandfather, Major (Judge) Lilburn Henderson Horton born 1821 Russell-Stafford Co., VA married Arminda Jane Mitchell in 1843 Scott CO., VA. They moved with their family to Cedar Co., MO prior to the Civil War where he served as Judge and owned a general store. He served as Major in the CSA and while at the Battle of WIlson Creek or Battle of Springfield the Union Army burned his home where his wife was too ill to get out of bed but their daughters were hiding in the fields for safety -so, the girls saw the flames and ran into the home and saved their mother. The southerners were defeated and he returned home with a discharge and took his family to Texas.He served as Judge in Jack CO., TX but died 1890 Midland, TX. In Missouri in which regiment did he serve? Which battles? Is he related to Col. Lilburn? Help needed and many thanks. Shirley
