I am searching for a connection to James Monroe CASH aka "Monroe" b. 1826 TN and wife Sarah E. FORD b. 1826-7 TN. They are listed w/ son John E. on the 1850 Cedar Co. MO Census. It is believed Sarah's father was Stephen FORD, also on the 1850 Census. Associated families are the ROWDEN and GIBSON families and all of them are thought to have come from East TN, around Roane/Meigs Co. TN. Is there any published info on the early settler's of Cedar Co.? Thanks for any help/connecting info. Sincerely, Chris CASH

The 1850 Census for Cedar District, Cedar County MO, lists Stephen FORD (age 58) and wife Mehala (age 48) and these children: Lucretia (age 16), Sarah (age 19), Calvin (age 18), Pam (age 13), Ludia (age 10), Arta (age 7) and Monro (age 6). I am looking for any information about Lucretia FORD who married Uriah Washington CURNUTT in Cedar County on 5 Dec 1854. Lucretia and Washington CURNUTT were my gg-grandparents. Their daughter Sarah Tennessee CURNUTT married Ephraim Hamilton WEST in Cedar County. Sarah and Ephraim WEST are my GGrandparents. Any help you can give on the FORD family (or any of the other families) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Janice - Can you tell me anything about Matilda Crawford Rowden b.1818 in Roane Co, TN? She married Jefferson Jackson 1/12/1843. They are both buried in Lindley Prairie Cemetery, Cedar Co, MO. I am looking to find out if Matilda was born a Rowden and who were her parents. Thanks - Dan

I'm not sure how much help this is, but another daughter of Stephen FORD's is Pheba Jane FORD who married Elijah ROWDEN in Cedar Co. on Apr 29, 1858. There was also a daughter of Stephen named Mary FORD. The ROWDEN family left Roane Co., TN between April 1847 & May 1848. These other sisters may provide a clue for you.

I have the marriage record from "Early East Tennessee Marriages" by Sistler of Matilda C. ROWDEN and Jefferson JACKSON. I "thought" she was a ROWDEN until Mina NUNES filled me in (her direct line)... From what I understand, Matilda was married to a ROWDEN, then widowed, then married Jefferson JACKSON. I can get with Mina and see if she has uncovered any new information on which ROWDEN Matilda was married to. Since Matilda CRAWFORD ROWDEN ended up in Cedar Co. with Elijah ROWDENs family, it would be easy to assume she was widowed by one of his sons. However, some of Elijah's nephews were also in Cedar Co., it would tell me that Matilda could have been married to one of Elijah ROWDEN's nephews. Let me correspond with Mina & some others and I will let you know if I find anything new....

I am assuming that I am related to you in some way or other.
My great-grandmother was Sarena Angeline Curnutt born in Miller Co., Mo. in 1852 or 1854. I think her parents were William Curnutt and Elizabeth Miller. William died shortly after Sarena's birth and her mother married a Jerimiah Lamb in 1856. Sarena was the youngest of five Curnutt children. One of her older sisters was Sarah (I don't know if this is your Sarah). Sarena married Daniel C. Neal in Cole Co., Mo. in 1876 and had six children, three of whom died as young children. The surviving children were Iva Cathline born in 1879, Lola Mae born in 1881(my grandmother), and Berta Ann born in 1886. Daniel and Sarena lived in Jerico Springs, Cedar Co. and all children were born there. Sarena died about 1886 or 1887 from some sort of infection. I know nothing more about her or her family since my grandmother didn't really remember her mother and there are so little records in Missouri before 1910. If you know how Sarena might be related to your Curnutts I would appreciate hearing from you. I am also looking for any information on Daniel Neal (parents, siblings, etc.) You may contact me at sandra.jennings@att.net. Thanks
