I would appreciate your information on James Shanks. You can contact me at owl@mcn.org.

The John S. Watts family lived in Cass Co. from abour 1839 until 1852. He went to CA in 1849 with 3 of his sons then returned to MO in 1850 and took his wife, Elizabeth Berry Watts and their son to CA in 1852. I don't know if any of his sons returned to MO with him in 1850 but they were all in CA in 1860. His sons were John S. Watts, Jr. (1827), Dewitt Clinton Watts (1829), Cleon Bolivar Watts (1831) and Andrew Jackson Watts (1838). Andrew never married but the other sons all married in CA after 1860 but it's possible that one of the older 3 sons had married before they left MO and I don't have that in my files. John S. Watts also left a daughter, Letty Watts Rowland in Cass Co., Margaret Watts Hays in Jackson Co. and a possible daughter, Eliza Watts Dickerson in Howard Co., MO. Another daughter had died and her 2 sons lived with their father, Richard C. Berry in Morristown.
Another possibility for Sarah's marriage is the Anthony Branaugh Watts family of Watts' Mill near Little Santa Fe, Jackson Co. There are some good trees online for that family.
