John D. Cox, b. 1855, Caldwell Co; d. 1919 in Kansas City, residence, Cameron. His wife was Jennie Ford. They had 4 daugthers: Nancy married Clair McClean, Cameron; Sally married Joe H. Allen and lived in Sapula, OK; Altha; and Anna Louise. Possibly a grandson named Paul Allen.

Looking for information (dates of birth, marriage, death, burial, names of parents) on his parents, listed on his MO death certificate as Sarah Brown and James Cox; also on his sisters (only have their initials - "M." Cox b. abt 1857; "D. F. Cox, b. abt 1855). John may have had a half sister, Emeline Gray, b. abt 1848.

Thanks you for looking at this for me, but unfortunately neither is my family. My great great grandfather John H. McDonald remarried in 1891 Margaret Vanderpool daughter of Aden C. Vanderpool. Because of this his first wife would have to have died prior to that year. Maybe some of the unmarked graves might have been her's, so I really appreciate you having a look there for me.

The only other thing that I can think of is maybe she ran off with another man and that might be why the family never mentioned her name. I don't really know, but it has been very frustrating trying to find this woman. The only other clue to her name is that I found a long time ago a John McDonald age 19 and a Mary McDonald age 18 on a ship together leaving Scotland, about the right time that my John left Scotland, which would have been around 1880. Thank you so much for having a look for me in these records. I really appreciate it.

I have a Thomas McDonald Died 8/20/1870, Age 38 yrs 26 days.
I also have a Jeannetta McDonald, Died 3/25/1897, WIfe of Nathan McDonald, 27 yrs. 9 months, 10 days. She is probaly African-American, due to the section she is buried in. When I have time I will dig out the old maps and see if there is any plots that were purchased that might have unmarked graves in them.

Do you have an McDonalds buried there around 1880 to 1885? Looking specifically for any females between the ages of 18 to 25. Sorry but I don't have a first name, just am working on a hunch. I have never been able to find my great great grandmother who was married to a John H. McDonald who was born in Scotland in 1862. The woman would have given birth to my great grandfather Chauncey McDonald in July of 1881 in Braymer. No one in the family ever mentioned her name nor is she listed on Chauncey's death certificate (he doesn't seem to have a birth certificate). These two are connected with the Aden C. Vanderpool family from there too. Any help that you can give me with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Joy Gantt Engel

There are many names without a listing as to US or CS service. My quest is, if YOU know the burial site of a Confederate Soldier that is not identified in this book, REGUARDLESS of what county he is buried in please notify me. If you have any additional info on CS men from Northwest Missouri, also.

Sec. C, Row 5, Thomas L. & Caroline J., William N., (son) and Gertrude (dau) Peddicord. Minnie P Morris, dau of Thomas & Caroline, Mertie B. McBeath, dau. of Thomas & Caroline. Don't know who Mason is. He was born in 1865.

Been trying for many years to find other kin folk of William Riley, born 1821 in Tn died 1896 in Caldwell Co, MO. Some have tried to tell us who his parents were but had no documentaion whatsoever. If anyone has anything they can share on either of these gentlemen, please let us know. Caldwell Co courthouse had suffered 2 major fires and much of the needed proof was lost. I am looking for a Joshua and Ann (Elizabeth) Taylor family. I find Joshua and Ann lving from 1870 to 1900 living in the Mirabile area, and don't find them after that.
They had 3 children Jessie (female), Ellen (Ella) and Charles. In the 1900 census only two children were living.
Just guessing, but it looks like their daughter Jessie may have married a Andrew J. Brown and lived in the Grant township area. in 1930 they are still living in the area. It looks like Andrew died in 1933 and is buried in Kingston cemetery. I can't find Jessie after that. They had a daughter Olive Elvadney.
I'm hoping to find information that will lead Ann Taylor back to Ohio to an Everly family. Thanks for an help.

George W. & Mary (Morris) White

Am interested if anyone would have information on George W.& Mary E. (Morris) White. George had a daughter, Minnie M. White, evidently from a first marriage, as her information does not show her to be Mary's child.

George W. White, age 75 died in Caldwell County, 16 December, 1915. On his death certificate he is listed as being widowed and supposedly being buried in Union Star.
However, any cemetery information I have for DeKalb County, does not indicate a George or Mary White, being buried at Union Star. Also, I do not find any record of Mary's death.

Mary E.(Morris) White was a sister of my wife's grandfather, William Reynolds Morris. I would appreciate any information anyone may have about the couple. Thank you!

I do not have obits, but I do have headstone photos for Alzora (Shockley)Wright(wife of W.B. Wright), and Edward (aka Edmond) Wright. Both are buried in Weaver Cemetery in Caldwell County, along with several of their Wright family.

I do not have a date of death for James H Wright, if you have this info I would be interested.

Also, if you have any further info on the father Winfield Wright.

I wonder if Tempy could have been a middle name she went by, or a nick name? I too have researching the Rockcastle/Garrard County angle, and have seen some of your queries there. The obituary I have for Smith Adams says he is "a near relative of the celebrated Mat Adams, representative of the Ninth District of Kentucky", and was Uncle to Dr Crawford Adams of St Joseph MO. Henry and Sarah Catherine (Mizer) Arbogast...

Hello everyone... I am looking for information (or at least an obituary) for Henry and Sarah Catherine.

Both were born in Ohio and came to Caldwell around 1885. They had two daughters, Dorothy and Ada. Sarah Catherine died on 3 Sep 1891 and Henry on 24 Apr 1908... I am looking for an obit especially for Henry...

Their daughter, Ada Beatrice, married Lewis Moffet. They had one son, Raymond W., in 1918. Ada died on 1 Oct 1951 and Lewis in 1957. Raymond died on 16 Nov 1952. I am looking for obits on any of them.

I know that the Arbogasts and the Moffets are buried at Mirable Cemetery in Rows 17 and 14 respectively.

Not sure what happened to Henry and Sarah's daughter, Dorothy. I am hoping Ada's obit would have something on her... Ada lived in Polo, Caldwell County but she died at Cameron Community Hospital in Cameron, Clinton County, Missouri.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. The Arbogast stone pics are on findagrave which was a great help.

I have information on the Cole family as they are in my family line as well. Henrietta Cole Vandenburg was born in Charlton, New York in 5 June 1840. She married Matthew Vandenburg and they had four children (Mary Etta Vandenburg was my great great grandmother). Henrietta died in Mirabile at the age of 31 on 16 November 1871.
Henrietta's father was Richard Cole (of New York) b:7 Jan 1811, died in Missouri 10 Jan 1879.

I feel that I most be the only person researching this lady:My ggrandmother, Tempy G. Adams b:1814 in Rockcastle Co.,Ky.married William B.A. Carter 1833, also in Rockcastle Co.,Ky. William was a preacher & physician. they moved around a lot.In 1852 & 53 they were in Clear Creek, Daviess Co.,Mo. Tempy had her eighth child there.In the summer of 1853, William was preaching in Spring Hill,Livingston Co.Mo.,then Sept.1853, Kingston,Caldwell Co.MO.,Jan. 1854 Eagleville, Harrison Co.,Mo.Tempy had her ninth child, my grandfather, Martin Luther Carter.I'm not sure if Tempy moved with William, but according to church records he was in Clear Creek, Daviess Co.,again in 1854 & 55, was in DeKalb, Livingston & Caldwell Counties Mo. Oct. 1860 to 1865 they were in Eagleville,Harrison Co.Mo., before moving to Monroe Co.,Iowa.I have no info. on Tempy's parents or siblings, that's what I'm hoping that someone out there can help me with.Every Adams "Will" that I've gotten doesn't name the wife or children or if it does there isn't a Tempy. All the records (land deeds & census) have her name spelled TEMPY, not Temperence. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Hi Elise, Wish that I could help you out but I'm stuck at this point.In researching the Adams in Rockcastle around 1810 I've decided that my Tempy might be the daughter of Daniel ADAMS & Hannah CUMMINS/ADAMS. I have no concrete evidence, haven't found a will for Daniel or Hannah. There was a Austin Smith Adams in the area but I don't remember the years! With all of the Adams families that I've checked I think I'm the only one with a TEMPY. Sorry wish that I was more helpful. Pat

Hi Elise, I have pictures of their graves & headstones. They're buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery,Cairo,Hall Co.,Nebraska.Tempy 6 Apr.1887 & W.B.A. 26 Jan. 1888. About TEMPY's name I've never seen it as Temperence, even on legal documents. She named one of her daughters Tempy & two of her granddaughters were also named TEMPY. I don't know what the "G" stands for,maybe Georgeanna???? she named one of her sons George William. As for when they went to Mo.the first info. that I have is 2 Dec.1852,Clear Creek,Daviess Co.,W.B.A. is mentioned in an article of "The Christian Record".He was a preacher with The Disciple of Christ Church & they sent him to places to start a new church or replace a preacher. That's why I don't think they followed family.Don't really know?? Pat

Delores - I need info on Sanford's brother, Payton. Marriage records have him as married to Rebecca Bradley 23 Oct 1860 by S. D. Davis, J.P. However, I believe that the Rebecca in question was Rebecca Smith, dau of John W. and Abigail Moad Smith. Payton died in 1910 as a ward of the County age 82; Rebecca was still alive in 1920 and an inmate of the Caldwell County Farm at age 82. Payton has a death certificate signed by their neighbor at the time, C. W. Lane; Rebecca has no death certificate on file. Do you have any facts on this? Did Rebecca first marry a Bradley?

Searching for death date and location on my G-grandfather. Seems all I can find is 1911 for the death. He was born in Clinton County abt 1854, married Paulina Lane in 1880 Caldwell Cnty. 1900 Census has them still in Caldwell County. I can not locate them anywhere on 1910 census, which would help narrow it down as to where he died.

Thanks for the info. Now can you shed some light on this. I was postive that Charity was Paulina Lane's Mother, but I recently got Paulina Death Obituary and it states she was the daughter of Van & Sarah Lane. No maiden name for Sarah.

I can think of three possibilities. 1) The person who provided the information for the obit was mistaken. I've seen that often enough. Memories fade over the span of that many years. 2) Charity's middle name may have been Sarah. 3) Charity and Martin were married in March 1861 and of course its possible she died and he remarried a Sarah who also died some time after Paulina's birth.

If Martin did marry a Sarah, it probably would have been before he fought in the Civil War. Apparently he was injured because he started receiving pension benefits in Mar 1864.

Without documentation of births, deaths, etc., it will be difficult to know with certainty who was Paulina's mother.

I still have the listing of local Caldwell people who signed a petition for Nicholas Hibner. I sent the Hibner civil war pension file to a descendant of Hibner's brother.

The listing I have(2 pages) shows George Hulser, and "R. Phillips".
I didn't find the name Newton on the list. This list was signed after the civil war and was in support of the pension for Nicholas Hibner.

Rockford Township of Caldwell County had a newspaper? I wasn't aware of this. I knew the primary newspaper for Caldwell County was/is The Hamilton Advocate, which had acquired most all other older newspapers in the county. The continue to publish the Braymer Bee and The Hamilton Advocate. (The Winston paper would have been a little far off the beaten path for this particular family.)

Marion E and Laura A (Miller) Stair are buried side-by-side at Prairie Ridge Cemetery, Caldwell County, Missouri. This is just outside of Polo, MO, in a rural area. The information in the previous post by garylmaize correctly reflects the description listed on each of their death certificates. Both clearly show Prairie Ridge Cemetery, with this being a rural area, I think the choice of towns was poor on the part of the person filling out the certificates.

I visited these graves on Memorial Day. Also buried nearby are their son Frank Miller Stair and wife Anna Belle (Martin); daughter Bernice Edna (Stair) and husband Samuel A Martin; and daughter Loie (Stair) Briggs.

Siblings Frank Stair and Bernice Stair married siblings Anna Belle Martin and Samuel A Martin of Rockford Twp, Caldwell County, MO.

Sam & Bernice Martin are my grandparents (adopted). I do not have any obituaries.

FYI: Most obits for this region were published in The Hamilton Advocate Newspaper, with early obits being in a now defuncted Kingston Newspaper, which was later purchased by The Hamilton Advocate. To the best of my knowledge these papers are not online (yet). The bound copies used to be available at the Advocate office for perusal and also on microfilm. You could call their office to ask the statis of the archives, 816-583-2116. I do not know if this source is one which had been checked by garylmaize.

A Smith A. Penney (b. June 1915) died in Santa Barbara Co, California in August 1994, whose mother's maiden name is given as Baughman, is possibly the junior.

Smith Adams is indeed the same person in Ray County MO on the 1840 census. He also resided later in life in Buchanan County MO, when he died in Apr 1883. (I have his obit)

This is interesting to me, because Smith Adams, who also lived in Caldwell County in 1850, was born in 1814 in Rockcastle Co KY. I have his obit. He died in Apr 1883 in St Joseph Missouri. I wonder if Tempy was related to Smith? Do you know much about Tempy's parents? I have quite a bit of info on Smith, I know in 1840 he was enumerated in Ray County. I believe he may have been related to my ancestor, James Adams, who also was in Ray Co in 1840.

you can go to the ancestry liabrary in independence mo. i have read the book or parts of it. there is another 2 books you can buy at the courthouse in kingston, mo. in one of them there is a nellie o also bridgewater it speeks of a lee bridgewater farm. not to much more there are several nelsons, lots of davis. a few mccartney. book is great i think 20.00 each

I have a partial obituary for Mrs. George W. Gibson. Whoever collected the obit., didn't cite the source or cut out the complete obituary when they did so. Could someone please try and find the obituary for me?

Mrs. Josephine (Christiansen) Gibson died 14 Jan. 1917. Her death certificate says she was buried 19 Jan. 1917. The "title" says Sudden Death of Mrs. George W. Gibson.

I don't need the obituary mailed to me, an email of what the obituary says would be fine. I have no clue who her children are as it is cut off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

She died Dec 10, 1937 in Kearney township, Clay County, MO, with her death reported by her husband. She was buried in Prairie Ridge Cemetery, Dec 12, 1937. She died of Carcinoma of the colon.

Marion Ellsworth Stair died rural rockford, Caldwell County, Jan 15, 1947. Informant was Bernice Martin of Elmira, Ray County, MO. He was listed as a teacher and minister.

I am supposing that George Hulser is the brother of Samuel Henry Holzer/Hulser, and son of Jakob Holzer & Florina Braunbart. George had a son named George Albert Hulser, but he wasn't born until abt 1874.

Samuel Henry Holzer was married to two sisters: first to Finetta Phillips, and after her death, to Mariah Phillips. It is quite likely that R. Phillips was a member of this Phillips family. Phoebe Hulser & James Newton were married in 1866 in Oregon & so were probably no longer in Caldwell county when this petition was signed.

Their son John was born abt 1876-but there is a rumor that says John was fathered but another man. He also knew his father as chandler and used the name JOhn mayfield. They also had 2 daughters, Marjorie & Catherine.

Seeking school records for the years around 1876-1890. Mary B LOWELL [born around 1871] was enumerated with Napoleon & Mary Helen WILLIAMS on the 1880 Caldwell County MO Census. They were living in Breckenridge. The name Lowell was hard to read, so it may have a different spelling. And of course she may have attended school under Mary B Williams.

Any help locating records for Mary B Lowell [or Williams] would be appreciated. I would appreciate ANY information found for this family in Caldwell County during this time period.

I am looking for any info on Reuben J. Moss, his ancestors or descendants. His youngest son, John Crittenden (b. Apr. 1863, d. 1946) was my mother's grandfather. The R.B. you mention in a later query I have as "Robert Burns", b. Sep 1858 (1880 census), though his first spouse I have tentatively as Rebeca Dixon, m. 29.03.1881 (Caldwell Co Marriage Records, Book C, 1881-86, p. 15). I'd be grateful for any correction.

I am currently trying to trace Reuben J. himself. He last appears in the Caldwell Co records in the 1880 census; his wife Elvira died 22.12.1896. A year later, the 1897 MO Atlas lists what were his land holdings under the names of Moss JC (2 sections) and R.B. (1 section, shared with JC). I am trying to ascertain whether this is the same Reuben J. that applies for a land grant of 160 acres in Madison Co., Arkansas in 1894 and suddenly pops up in 1900 in California Township there, in a second marriage 3 yrs old.

Any help or advice appreciated. I'll be glad to correspond with or send along what I have to anyone who's interested.

Anson D. Eldridge b.<1830> NY, & Sarah Barrett b.<1832> Portage Co., OH were married 04 Jul 1854 in Medina, Co., OH. Their two children were: Maria b.<1858> & Arthur W./N. b.<1864> both in Medina Co., OH. The family next appears on the 1870 Fairview Twp., Caldwell Co., MO census.

Subsequently Anson, Sarah, & Arthur show up on the 1880 Woodland, Yolo Co., CA census; Maria is no longer with them. I have no information on the family beyond this point. Maria would have been <22> yrs old in 1880; perhaps she married in MO, or CA.

I would appreciate any information on these family members!

Marriage of Henry Gibson & Nancy Barrett

Help! This woman is about to drive me wacky! Nancy Ann Barrett, according to her obit and other info, was b. in Livingston Co, MO in l852. Her first husband (the count is up to three) was supposedly a Henry or Wm. Henry Gibson, father of her three c. born in l874, l876, and l878. Census data indicates that all -- Henry, Nancy, and the c -- were born in MO. Her parents were Samuel & Nancy Smith Barrett originally from TN. They, Nancy, and some other kin are buried in the Evergreen Cem. outside DeWitt in Carroll Co where she apparently lived most of her life, dying in l942. Thus far I've checked Carroll, Chariton, and Saline co's for marriage info ca l870 for a Henry & Nancy -- I've written the Livingston Co recorder, but no response yet. Thus I'm contacting all other counties neighboring Livingston for possible help in locating this marriage. Carroll Co officials did find that in l880 a Nancy Gibson married a Jas. Kelly. By the l900 Carroll Co census Nancy was the widow Singleton (I haven't found documentation of that marriage, either.) Any help searching marriage records will certainly be appreciated.

I have never been able to find an obituary for John B. Louiselle. We believe that he is buried in a paupers grave at the Eloise Hospital near Detroit, Mi. Most of their records were destroyed. I have not been able to get a death record for him either. We do have obituaries for Elizabeth Jane (Snider) Louiselle and most of their children.
How are you related to the family? I am doing this for my son-in-law.

Betty Rae Watson-Mott Dies After Long Illness Services Thursday

Betty Rae Mott daughter of Raymond and Muriel Stepleton-Watson was born July 27, 1926 and departed this life at Menorah Medical Center in Kansas city at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 1965 at the age of 39 years. Mrs. Mott has been ill the past five years.

She was a graduate of Polo High School in the class of 1944. In her youth, she became a Christian and joined the Methodist Church in Polo, Missouri, later transferring her membership to the Congregational Church at 36th & Walnut in Kansas City, Missouri.

On March 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to George E. Mott of Excelsior Springs, Missouri. To this union three children were born.

Betty always had a smile for those that knew her and cheerful even though she often did not feel well.

She is survived by her husband, George Mott of the home at 3626 Walnut, Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Winnette Ann and Melody Sue and one son Randall Edwin all of the home; her mother Muriel Vaught and her father Raymond Watson both of Polo, Missouri; three sisters; Mrs. Mary Doyle, Buckner, Missouri; Mrs. Beverly McCartney of Lamoni, Iowa; Mrs. Ruby Haight of Polo, Missouri and one brother, Bert Bud Vaught of Gladstone, Missouri. One uncle Ira Lee Stepleton of Penrose, Colorado. Five nieces, three nephews and a number of other relatives and a host of neighbors and friends.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Baptist Church in Polo with Rev. Kenton Webb officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. John McCollough who sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Beyond the Sunset.”

Pallbearers were Doris Carter, Bob Lile, Bill Rodgers, Joe Robinett and Gene Cresson. Burial will be in Prairie Ridge Cemetery, west of Polo.

Bert Jackson Vaught, a resident of Polo, Missouri for many years died unexpectedly at this home on October 7, 1931 from complications causing heart failure.

Mr. Vaught was one of seven children born in Richmond, Virginia living there until he was 19 years old. The family then moved to Missouri, leaving two sisters there, already dead.

In 1904 he married Hattie E. Steward of Kansas City, Missouri. Later he moved to Polo where he and his family have remained since.

Mr. Vaught leaves his wife and two children; Ruth M. Vaught and Michael S. Vaught; also a mother and two brothers.

Funeral services were held at the home and burial was in the Lawson Cemetery, Lawson, Missouri.

In Fairfield Co., OH the widow Margaret (Blue) Cross b. VA remarried abt. 1835 to William Scott b. PA. William was a War of 1812 Vet and Margaret filed for a pension on his service in 1879. Her first husband was Edward Cross (d. abt 1835 OH) who she married in Jefferson Co., VA a son of Rev. War Vet John Cross (died in Fairfield Co., OH 1847).
William Scott and Margaret had ch:
1. Stephen Scott b. 1836 OH - d. 1921 Caldwell Co., MO m. Margaret in Ohio. He was a carpenter who came to first Ray before 1870 and then Caldwell Co.,MO. Their ch: Laura, William, Emma Ann & George.
2. Catherine b. 1838 - still single in 1880 Fairfield Co.OH
3. John C. Scott b. 1841 - remained in Fairfield Co., OH m. Sarah. His widowed mother lived with him. He was a carpenter also. ch: Samuel, Rusha, George & Mary.
4. James Henry Scott b. 1842 m. Rachel in Ohio and moved to Caldwell Co., MO by 1880. Only 2 of 4 children survived: Eva O and Ethel.

Caldwell Co. - Company E - 6th Regiment

I am researching the death of the first husband of my great-great grandmother, a man named Alexander Martin Edwards (also a relative by marriage "cousins"). They were living in Blythe Township, P.O. Kingston, (Caldwell Co.) MO in 1860 census with their three small children. The "why" is not known, they were both born and raised in Carroll Co., Virginia and to my knowledge had no relation in Missouri. ANYWAY, on her marriage license to my g-g-grandfather (in 1865 back in Virginia) she was listed a "widow".

A 1920s article written by his grandson states that he (Alexander Martin or A.M. as the census taker called him) died in Civil War. I did find a "John B." Edwards listed in the roster for Company E of the 6th Regiment FROM Carroll County, Virginia. Do you show any obits or other information possibly on him or Company E? I suppose that it was possible the "John B." was mistaken for "Alex M." Any help greatly appreciated.

I think I may have written you a few minutes ago. Could I get more info on your Minerva Sloan that m. Frederick Heck. I suspect she must be the dau of Stephen & Judith Sloan, early settlers of Caldwell Co. Mo. I don't have any dau of Stephen in my database, however, according to early census there should be 3 or 4 that d. or m. before 1850. I have that Stephen was b. in Va. lived in Monroe Co. OH. but no other information on his ancestors.

Yesterday I received a list of the Sloans buried in the Sloan Cemetery from Raimen Rice. This is the info with [my comments]:

The information you have on here about Peyton is not correct. He was born in Va. or N.C. and Married Rachel Griffith in Green Co. Indiana.
He died and is burried in Black Oak Cemetery in Caldwell Co. Mo.

1880 Caldwell County census has John and Emma with James, age 4; Sarah J., age 2; and Amos, age 6M. Sarah J. appears to be same person as Ida Mae, which may explain why she was called Sally.

Emma and Nicholas Kromeich in 1870 Census for Fairview, Caldwell County, Missouri have three children.
Amelia b. abt 1866
Florence b. abt 1867
Luella b. abt 1868
In 1880 Census for Caldwell County there are four Kromeich children living with other households.
Florence, age 12 was with Adolphus Kromeich, age 38, his brother Albert, age 36 and his sister Adeline, age 25. No relationship entered for Florence but probably Niece.
Ella, age 11 was with the family of Patel Davis, age 33, hiswife Sarah, age 27 and their children Olie Thos., age 4 and Amos age 2. Ella is listed as niece.
William, age 10 was living in the household of A. Rees, age 39, physician; his wife Nancy, age 32; and children Emma, age 13; Fannie, age 12; Nannie, age 10; and Hurley, age 3. He is listed as a boarder.
Daniel, age 6 was living with Wm. N. Shaffer, age 40; Wm's mother Rebecca, age 62; and brother Amos, age 20. Daniel is listed as nephew.
Amelia's whereabouts in 1880 is unknown to me. I believe that all five of these children were offspring of Nicholas and Emma Kromeich.
William Kromeich's second marriage was to the mother of one of my distant cousins. I have been assisting a researcher that is working on the Kromeich line for one of William's descendants from the second marriage. My primary interest lie elswhere but I hope this information is useful to you.

Hello I am kin to all the Townsends buried at Lick Fork, my grandfather was Bill Townsend, my great grandfather Loyd Townsend, my gg grandfather was Luther, and my ggg grandfather was William Townsend. I have seen Nettie's grave and wondered about her. We decorate the cemetery yearly. The Townsend line and branches are very tricky. Within the last year someone has told me that they had a Lay/Lake family history book that said William Towsend was adopted by a Townsend family and that his real last name had been White. I have found many sources saying his Telitha's last name was Lay. I read on someone's ancestry webpage that Telitha was an illegimate child. I am not sure if these are true or not but it is something to think about and study. Well if you find anything on Nettie please let me know. I will see if I can find any info on her.

Also a Anna Bell Orr(Yates) first wife of Grandfather Robert married into Davis family 1884. (She would not move to Missouri with Robert) but find him still showing married on 1880 Census. Tracked it down online to a Kingston PO Box address for a Caldwell County Genealogy Society. Its website gives only the PO Box & phone numbers of officers & suggests people phone them for prices on their publications, including the 1985 History which seems to be in two parts or volumes. I wrote them last year at their PO Box for information, never got a response. Anyone have information on prices? Is the 1985 History of Caldwell County available anywhere else, especially some place where they answer their mail or have an email address?

Seeking details on the murder of my maternal uncle Maurice Gene "Chick" GREGORY in Kingston 29 Sep 1948, age 22 years (b near Kingston 11 Jul 1926). A decorated WW2 U.S. Army vet, he was son of Oda GREGORY of Kingston. Billie Wallace HILL (1926-1994) & his brother James R. HILL of Kingston were arrested for his first-degree murder, but I have no info on the outcome of their trial, if any. Appreciate any information on what is for me a family mystery.

Does anyone have access to the 1907 Caldwell County Atlas?

I am looking for the owner of the SE 1/4 (40 acres) of the SE 1/4 of
section 22, Township 59 Range 28(Kingston). This land ownership would
have also spilled 10 acres into section 23.

In 1876 this was owned by R. L. Williams.
In 1897 this was owned by R. L. Knott (same person, 3rd marriage).
In 1930 this was owned by Otho [sic?] Switzer.

Martin Vanburen Lane

I am trying to locate a Martin VanBuren Lane born about 1840 and married a Charity Bennett. They had Paulina and Elmore. Paulina was born about 1865 and she is my Great Grandma. I have been able to locate them in Caldwell on the 1870 census, but Martin has remarried a Lavina Craig and the childred are listed s Craig and not Lane. I have located a Martin Lane and his Mother was Nancy Davis. Since Caldwell Courthouse burned so many times, there are no records available. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for US census records for James R. Bryan (1815-1889) and his wife Susan Fleming McCoskrie Bryan ((1823-1912) in the years 1860 and 1870. They lived in District 11, Caldwell, Missouri, in 1850 and in Monroe, Livingston, Missouri, in 1880.

Their children were: Jennett Constance Bryan (1844-1912), Roberson Bryan (1847-?), Isaac C. Bryan (1850-1906), Andrew Jackson Bryan (1854-?), Marjorie Bryan (1857-1925), and Narcissa Bryan (1858-1943).

I am looking for information on a LULA JEWELL. She married MICHAEL LORETTE. She is the daughter of HIRAM and ELIZA JEWELL.

She was born in KS. She had sisters named ALICE, LILLIAN and MARY ELIZABETH.

I found the death in Caldwell Cty, MO. She died in 1913.

It is believed that their house caught fire in BRAYMER and she was trying to save her piano and perished in the fire.

Michael remarried and remained in Braymer, MO on the family farm.

I am sure this must have been in the local newspaper. Is there a place to look up archived stories in the BRAYMER BEE?

I have a Family Bible that belongs to the MOORE family who at one time lived near Mirable, Caldwell Co., MO. It is worn and tattered many of the pages are falling out or loose, but it has a lot of good information in it.

The 1st birth recorded is Edward Moore, May 20, 1838, followed by Elizabeth A. Moore August 28 1846. (Written in a different hand the A. has become Anne and Sloan is written above Moore). There are children listed and the statement that all were born near Mirabele.

Osborn Co, KS seems to be where the family moved to from MO.

I would really like to get this Bible to either a member of the family or someone who will take care of it. I also do not have time to do look ups, but will scan the pages and sent them as a JPEG to any who ask.

Other names are: Sloan, Lennen, Shull, Eckman, Hubbard I am not sure about the Shull, it could be Sheell but I don’t think so.

If this is your family or you know who it should go to please let me know. I don’t want to sell this is just want to bet it to the family.

I'm afraid I can't tell you much about the Ross family. My Jerusha Emiline KLINE WILLARD m. 2H Simpson Jones ROSS in 1882 in Ohio. They then moved to Missouri where they had three daughters. So the Ross surname didn't come down through that marriage. I have no idea if Simpson was married previously and had children or not. Simpson was b. July 5, 1847 died Dec. 20, 1936. My source for his dates is a deceased Aunt. Unforunately, I don't know her source.

Martha's parents were John Smith and Angelina Grove. John was killed in the Lone Jack skirmish in 1862. Angelina is buried in Evergreen Cemetary in Cameron after dying in 1898.

They were my gr. gr. grandparents.

The family moved to Missouri from Seneca County, Ohio around 1858. John and Angelina were married in Carroll County Ohio.

Rather than post a whole litany, I will wait to hear from you as I believe you will be interested.

Seeking information on the family of Thomas Horton HARE, b. 1839 in Tarentum, Allegheny Co., PA; d. aft 1900. Thomas may have had two or three wives.
His first wife seems to have been a Margaret Johnson who died before 1865 and we do not know IF they had children.

Robert Horton Hare is the great grandson of Alexander NEGLEY (thru Felix, and Margaret) of Pittsburgh, PA

His second wife was Jessie ORINS, b. Abt 1845 in Missouri. With Jessie, Thomas had four known children: Margaret Negley Hare (1866-??); William Lafayette Hare (1868-1955); Jessie Orins Hare (1870-1872); and Ollie/Ottie Milton Hare (1876- ??).

The 1880 census for Hamilton, CALDWELL Co., MO reports that the first two surviving children were born in Pennsylvania, but Ollie/Ottie was born in Missouri. And it gives Thomas’ wife as AGNES, b. 1845 in PA (Could this be Jessie with a different name?)

Who was Margaret Johnson? What were her birth and death dates? Who were her parents? When (and if) did she marry Thomas Horton Hare?

Who were the parents of Jessie Orins? When and where did she die? Could she be the same person as Agnes, last name unknown, who was married to Thomas Horton Hare at the time of the 1880 census?

Finally, what happened to Margaret Negley Hare who shows up in the 1880 census, but not after that? Who did she marry and when?

Everyone has been so helpful lately. I have seen Leah Brindle/Brennell spelled a couple of different ways. Do you know who her father was and where he lived? On February 23, 1980, Ronald married Ruby Vaught and enjoyed 25 years of marriage. Ronald worked for Berkel & Co. Contractors in Bonner Springs, KS, for 22 years, before retiring due to health. Ronald enjoyed fishing, small game and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and bowling. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his father, Carl Williams. Survivors include his mother, Elaine Williams of Georgetown, IL; his wife, Ruby Williams of Kingston, MO; one daughter, Pamela (Haight) and husband Doug Fletchall of Winston, MO; two sons, Michael Haight of Morrisville, MO, and John Haight and wife Cynthia of Holt, MO; two sisters, Barbara and husband Bob Pearman of Georgetown, IL, and Maria Hooker and husband Bernard of Zidell, IL; six grandchildren, Dustin and Christina Clark, David, Jordan, and Dakota Haight, and Zavier Jones. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2006, at First Baptist Church of Polo. Burial will be at Prairie Ridge Cemetery, Polo. The Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, at the church. The Family suggests memorial gifts to the Excelsior Springs Hospice. (Arr. Bailey & Cox Funeral Home, Polo, MO)

I have all the pages of the Nicholas Hibner pension file. But I have only 2 pages of the lists of names ready to send by word.doc. If this want this I can send it. I cannot attach a word.doc to this reply.

The file must be 50/60 pages long, and is on legal size paper. This pension is for the old Nicholas Hibner of Caldwell County who was born in Germany about 1814 and became a local hero during the Civil War. He had turned in many rebel soldiers, and during the course of this activity received a gunshot wound to the leg. He died about 1889. The 1865 heirachy of Caldwell County is in this file, but extracting it would take a long time. Nicholas had no children, but his brother Henry Hibner, born about 1802 in Germany had children.

I'm looking for any death or burial records for a Nancy A. Buchanan b. abt. 1847 d. ???? . She was married to a John Buchanan. They were originally from Whitley, KY, but I found them in an 1880 census as living in Davis, Caldwell, MO.
They had several children before she died.
Margaret b. 1863, Betty E. b. 1865, Nancy J. b. 1867, Mary A. b. 1869, Wm. J. b. 1872, Sophia A. b. 1873 and a George D. b. Dec.-Jan. 1880.

John remarried in 1885 to Belle and were located back in KY with George in 1900.
So Nancy had to of passed away somewhere between 1880 when the census was taken and 1885 before John remarried. If anyone can help in any way...or at least maybe point me in the right direction...I'd greatly appreciate it.

I am posting here because there is no HULSER board and I have been advised that Hulsers lived in Caldwell County, MO, in the 1840's to 1860's.

I am searching for parents of Phoebe Florina Hulser, b MO 1849, married James Granderson Newton, b MO 1841. They married in Myrtle Creek, Douglas, OR, in 1866, and lived the rest of their lives in Douglas County. I read an older post which said Phoebe's parents were Samuel Hulser and Finetta Phillips of Caldwell County, but I can't find any records which prove this. The only record I have found for a Samuel in Caldwell County is on the 1880 census, and it shows him married to Mariah, not Finetta. Anyone familiar with these people?

My grandfather was Samuel Franklin RICE (b. 1894, Plattsburg, Clinton, MO; d. 1965, and is buried in Plattsburg). He married Dessa Mae GOAD (her line is extensively researched.) Samuel's father was George Miles RICE (b. 1870, Bigelow, Holt, MO; d. 1934, and is buried in Plattsburg, MO). He married Julia Lorena GROGAN, who is also buried in Plattsburg. They had a daughter, Elizabeth Anne Rice, b. 1900 in Plattsburg. George Miles Rice's father was George Samuel RICE who was born about 1844 of Bigelow, Holt, MO. George Samuel married Mary Jane CHANEY. They had another son, William RICE, b. about 1872; and a daughter Mary RICE, b. about 1874. Both were born near Bigelow, Holt, MO. I have been unable to trace my family any further back than George Samuel RICE, but suspect the family may have originated in KY. I am looking for information on the brothers/sisters of Sandford Owen. He married Elizabeth Burnett. They had had Mary Jane, William P., John W., George T., Octavia A., Josiah E., Lydia R., Alice G., and Samuel W.

Sandford moved to Caldwell Cty MO in 1840 with his married sister, Mrs. Samuel D. Davis. I do not know her first name. He was 8 at that time. When his parents moved to MO in 1942, he lived with them.

Sandford is the son of Payton and Rachel Griffith Owen. I believe he was one of 13 children. Payton came from a group of early settlers in Owen and Greene Counties in Indiana. He moved the family to Adams Cty. Illinois in 1836. They then moved to Clay Cty, MO in 1839 and finally to Caldwell Cty in 1842. Payton died there in 1848.

Payton is a decendent of Thomas Owen, an Englishman by birth. He came to this country at the beginning of the Revolutionary War and was severely wounded, taken prisoner and never returned to his native country. He married and had a large family in Virginia.

would like to request a LOOKUP on an obituary for Mrs. Priscilla Clark, wife of John W. Clark who died in Cameron, MO 7-9-1899. She was 85 years old when she died and was living with her youngest son, Henry B. "Benton" Clark and his wife Gelsena Ellen "Ella" Love Clark and their family at the time of death. She was born in 1814 in VA & she married to John W. Clark (b. 1814 or so in TN) in TN about 1835. Two daughters were born in TN before they moved to MO about 1839-1840. All the rest of their children were born in MO, mostly in Harrison CO but at least one daughter might have been born in Caldwell CO on the land patent obtained by John W. in 1838.

Lora, I have never been convinced that my WILLIAM HICKS was the son of the Cherokee Chief, William Hicks. No one yet has offered any proof. I have some old letters from cousins long gone that I will share with you. Chief William Hicks did have a son, William, but there is no research data on him.

I'm afraid it won't be the answer you want--I have the same "Hicksology" papers that your family has. A copy had been sent to Barbara Proffitt years ago, and she sent me a copy a few years ago.

Then there is the family oral tradition of my husband's mother, who said they were either Cherokee or Choctaw (and, as our research has shown, could've even been both--some of the surnames in his mother's line other than Hicks are more often found in the Choctaw than the Cherokee). But if William Hicks truly is James' (et al) and Mary Jane's father and was truly son of a chief, then it would be highly likely Cherokee rather than Choctaw. Hicks is such a common Cherokee surname that it far surpasses Ross and many others as a surname (John Ross was the longest reigning chief of the Cherokee nation in recent history).

Sorry to say, but this is all we know. I can say that the smallest bit of information on this Hicks family could provide a major clue at this point in the research, so ANYTHING you might have besides the "Hicksology" papers could be very crucial! What do YOU have besides those papers?

He arrived with the first mail under this new arrangement at Camp Scott in May 1858. Hockaday was not able to make a go of this contract financially and sold out several years later.

I am searching for information on William Clark of Mirabile township who is mentioned as formerly being a Civil Bend Christian Church elder in "The History of Caldwell & Daviess Co." An Eliza A. Clark is mentioned in the same paragraph as William in the same book as joining the church in 1868. What I am trying to confirm is whether or not they were father and daughter and if William's name actually was John William Clark. I would also like to know if Henry Clark who ran the mill that exploded might have been a brother of William.

My gggranddad, John W. Clark purchased a land patent in 1838 in Caldwell Co in Mirabile township. I'm trying to connect him with the William Clark mentioned above. Eliza A. Clark was the fourth daughter of John W Clark and by 1870, John and his family were living in Sheridan township in Daviess Co.

Is there anyone willing to get a copy of the 1838 land patent for me from the Courthouse in Kingston or see if there is any more records on John or William at the courthouse? John died sometime between 1870-1876 and is buried in McCrary cemetery- we have no exact date of birth or death. John was born somewhere in TN about 1814 and migrated to MO about 1839 with his wife and 2 daughters. A third daughter was born in MO in 1839, probably in the area of Pulaski Co. where we found them in the 1840 census.

John's youngest son, Henry Benton Clark was living in Miribile township in 1900. Whether or not it was on his father's land patent I don't know but would love to find out if he was and if and when he inherited it. Also, when he sold it since he and his family migrated to KS in 1902.

If anyone could help or if you know of any information on this family, please let me know. I would be happy to share what information I have on the family. I will gladly provide reimbursement on any costs for paperwork etc.

I hope you are not forgetting the daughter of William, Mary Jane Hicks, and the sister of John, James, Joseph and Zebulon??

My husband is a descendant of Mary Jane Hicks who married David H. Kinyon in Ray Co. MO. They had 2 children, David and Mary Elizabeth. David married 1) Jamima/Jemima Thatcher and 2) Susan Hanna McKown (shortly after David d. in 1889, Susan m. David C. Lovel[l] ). With Jamima/Jemima, David had a son, James Thomas we believe, and with Susan he had only one daughter that survived to adulthood, Belle DeVera Kinyon, my husband's grandmother.

Barbara Sharp Proffitt of Ray Co. is the descendant of Mary Jane through Mary Elizabeth, who married William Riley Clevenger, Barbara's g g grandparents. Apparently Mary Elizabeth (or was it her daughter?) was nicknamed "Cumie" and was called cousin by (your uncle?) Edward who died in 1971? Sorry I don't have my notes in front of me to be more certain on this information of Barbara's and am making this feeble attempt with just my poor memory!

Did I understand your posts correctly that you are a descendant of James Hicks?

Would very much like to compare notes with you--from reading all the posts these Hicks threads, it sounds like all of the branches of the family are maintaining the same oral history of a connection through Wm. Jr. to his father Wm. Sr., chief of the Cherokees 1827-1828. Considering it was unpopular AND DANGEROUS to admit to being Indian anywhere between the NC reservation (which came after the Trail of Tears by a number of years) and Oklahoma/Indian Territory (or the Arkansas White River area reserve), it now appears to me that this must be the truth of the matter after all.

I'm pretty sure that that is the maiden name of Lilly. A few years ago all five children of Dean & Louise gave me info on their families, and none of them questioned the fact that Drummond was the maiden name of their grandmother.

It is in the book "History of Caldwell and Livingston Counties, Missouri 1886" Killing of Oster by William Taylor, in 1847 occurred the murder of a citizen of the county named Oster, who lived in what is now Fairview township, half a mile northeast of Elk Grove. He was killed by his son-in-law, Wm. Taylor, who was assisted by his father, younger brother, and Henry Gist. Wm. Taylor had married Oster's daughter, and the couple had separated, owing, it is said, to Taylor's ill-treatment of this wife, who had returned with her one child to her father's. The Taylors lived in Gentry county. Wm. Taylor had tried repeatedly to get possesion of the child then in custody of its mother. At last, one Sunday, when the old man Oster and the most of the older members of his family were at church at Elk Grove, he (William Taylor) and his father (Benjamin Taylor) and brother (Jacob Taylor) and Gist raided upon the premises and, after some controversy and struggling, succeeded in getting possession of the child. The alarm was given by one of the younger members of the family, and Mr. Oster ran home before the kidnapers had left. In some sort of encounter Taylor shot his father-in-law down and rode away, bearing the child before him on a horse. Meeting some parties in the road, he coolly informed them that he had killed "old oster as dead as a nit, " and did not want "any more trouble about it, either!" All four of the kidnapers were arrested. Wm. Taylor, the principal, was confined in the Buchanan county jail, but escaped therefrom and was never recaptured. Henry Gist burned off the jail door at Plattsburg, where he was confined, came home and was not rearrested, or at least not tried or reimprisoned. Old Man Taylor was tried, convited, sentenced to the penitentiary for two years, but pardoned out: the younger Taylor was not tried, the case against him being dismissed. QESTIONS: what happened to the child/children, the wife, and what was her name?

Emma Moss died Feb. 12, 1891, shortly after giving birth to Edward. John Moss died in Braymer and is buried there. Charles Moss died Nov. 1966 at Braymer (ref. SS App).

Other MOSS' in Caldwell County: Octava, America, Robert, Ann, Fannie. Other Shaffer's in Caldwell County, (although it's unknown if they are related to Emma): Anna, Sally, Pleasant.

If you go to the Caldwell County Archives page again and put "Stoller" into the search box, you will come up with 11 hits. Click on the ones that end in "booth*.txt." Those are the interviews. They were born in Rockbridge County, VA in the early 1850s and moved to Caldwell County in the mid 1860s with their parents. They were 14 and 17. John Wilson Carr moved to Marion County and later Shelby County. B. F. Carr remained in Caldwell County and became a Dr. He lived in Polo. He was buried in "the local cemetery" in Kingston. According to the death certificate for Albert J. McDaniel, he was born in Hamilton, MO and his parents were Henry McDaniel and Minnie Herman. Albert McDaniel was raised by a stepfather so I do not know anything about my McDaniel ancestors from any family records. According to the census records, Albert listed his parents birth locations as unknown for several decades. Then in 1920 he listed his parents as both born in IL. In 1930, he listed his father and mother as born in MO and IL, respectively. Also, in 1930, his mother lists her birth state as IL. However, I am trying to trace the McDaniel ancestors. Does anyone know anything about Henry McDaniel?

The child in question (the one the shooting involved) was George Washington Taylor. His mother was Julia Ann Oster (b. 1824, d. 1875). Julia Ann went on to marry Martin Fisher in 1851, and had at least three children by him. She then married Barney Rouse in 1867.

I read that Meredith Bratcher was moving with his 6 children sometime after his wife,Melissa, died to Eagleville from Kidder. Little Milton fell off the wagon and was run over. I have been trying to determine how Elizabeth A. Schooler fits into my family. My Schooler's were all in Caldwell, County, Missouri in the 1860's and were all born in Alabama and Tennessee. I will keep gleaning and see if I can find a match.
Two of my Schooler women married Phillips boys in Caldwell, County. They moved into the Barry/Larwence/AR areas later around the late 1860's.

Her mother's maiden name was Pamela Marsh (1830-1902), her father was Alexander Knapp Love (1822-1908). I need more information on Ella and her siblings as well as her parents. I haven't been able to get past this generation due to lack of information.

She marrried Henry Benton Clark on horseback in the middle of the street and it was announced in the Gallatin Democrat on 8-30-1877 along with a short article about the incident.

I am looking for clues regarding the parents of James McClain (McLain, McLean, McClaine, McLane, MacLean) who married Isabella (Isabelle or Isabel) Varner January 13, 1840 in Greene County, OH Ohio. James was born in 1817 or 1818 in Maryland MD, and according to later census records both of his parents were born in Maryland. Isabella Varner was born in Maryland in 1818 or 1819, and her father's name may have been Anthony Varner. They had the following children:

According to census records, the family lived in Beaver Creek OH (1840), Xenia OH (1850), Spring Valley OH (1860) then migrated to Spring Grove Illinois IL in Warren County by 1870. Isabella died between 1870 and 1880 (1874 possibly). Most of the family later moved to Caldwell County Missouri MO by 1880. James (the father) lived the rest of his days with his son Stephen and died in 1905 in Gomer, MO Caldwell Co.

Any help that could be offered would be appreciated.

I am looking for old cookbooks. One which were published by churches or women's groups between the years of 1890 and 1950. Many time in the past church women would put a cook book together to raise money for the church. and I am hopeing to find recipes that were sumitted by Pemberton or relation to Pembertons. The group of cooks I am looking for were all related to John Pemberton of Caldwell County. The following are possible recipes handed down from these women.

The following Obituary appeared in a local newspaper in or near Cameron, Missouri. The date of print is thought to be about 26 April 1965.

Funeral services were held for John A. Braden, 77, were held today at 2:00 p.m. from the Michael Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hubert Pearce officiating. Burial was in the Packard Cemetery.
Mr. Braden, a prominent farmer of the Cameron area passed away suddenly, Friday evening at the Cameron Community Hospital. He was a member of the Girard, Illinois Masonic Lodge and a member of the Missouri Farmers Association. His wife, Rose, preceded in death in February 1964. He is survived by two sons, Albert and Herbert Braden both of Flint Michigan; one sister, Mrs. Ada Mayberry of Independence, Kansas; two half brothers George and William Becky, Edinburg, Illinois. Five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Rose Merle Braden, 66, Cameron, died at Cameron Community Hospital last night at 10:10 p.m. She had been a patient there three week and had under gone surgery last week. Mrs. Braden had been employed at the hospital in Cameron from its beginning, having opened the original hospital in 1948 in the capacity of Supervisor of Nurses and Director. At the time of the move into the new building in September 1955, she assumed the position of operating room supervisor and anesthetist, which position she retained until she was incapacitated by illness. She is survived by her husband, John Braden, three brothers, Russell Tow, Ridgecrest, California; Benjamin Tow, Jonesville, Michigan; Roland Tow, Stanton, Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Nestle, Crystal, Michigan and Miss Ruth Tow, Detroit, Michigan. Services will be held in the Crunk Chapel, Friday Morning at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Leslie Hartz officiating. Burial will be in the Packard Cemetery. Friend and relatives will be received from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Crunk Funeral Home Thursday.

I'm looking for info on William Sedars (1862-11938) & Pauline Alice [Vanderpool] (1865-1894) Clark's daughter Sarah Jane Clark (1892-1921). Sarah was raised by her Grandmother Lucinda [Davis] Vanderpool after the death of her mother. They lived in the Black Oak Cummunity, Caldwell County, Mossouri.

One source said Sarah married a Devore and had two children, Nina & Earl. Have not found anything to prove or disprove the info.

Sarah last name was Phillips when she maried Floyd W. Grisham, 15 Apr 1917, in Boise, Ada County, Idaho. At the time Sarah married Floyd she was living in Pocatello, Bannock County, Idaho. Sarah died 2 Feb 1921, Boise, Ada Co, Idaho, cause of death was Typhoid Fever, she was buried 4 Feb 1921, Morris Hill Cemetery, Boise, Ada Co, Idaho. Floyd parents James Marion and Jessie M. Grisham are buried next to Sarah. Death notice in Idaho Statesman list only her survived by her husband, Floyd W. Grisham, two sisters and a brother. No listing of any children.

Sarah only brother, Ola Edward (1890-1955), is buried in the Veteran’s section in Morris Hill Cemetery, Boise, Idaho. Military, WWI Colorado, PVT CO E 5 DEVELOPMENT BN

Sarah's sister were Stella Amanda (1885-1960), married Fredrick “Fred” Alfred Butlerr, and Clora Myrtle (1887-1991) married Earnest Harland Phelps.

I would like to find out who the Phillips Sarah was married, when she left Caldwell County, Missouri, if she was ever married to a Devore, etc. Please email Judy K. Butler at

This name could be John Hunter Owen.
I am looking for any information to this gentleman. He was the son of Peyton and Rachel Owen. Born about 1834. The last contact I have of him is the 1850 census where he was living with his widowed mother in Caldwell Co. Mo. Davis twp. at the age of 16.
