Virginia, I know that you sent me the pictures of Eliza Jane Grimes once and my computer crashed before I could get the pictures printed. Would you be so kind as to send them again? Theresa Rogerson

I just found your inquiry on the RootsWeb website about Cornelius Nafus. I must apologize for not responding sooner. I sort of lost many of my bookmarks, my email address had changed and to be honest, I have not been doing a lot of research lately. Still, a year and a half to reply is a bit much.

If you are still interested I can furnish you with some information on Cornelius and his family I would be happy to help. I even have a copy of his obituary from a paper if you would like to have it.

I would also be interested in hearing more about Christa Nafus and Alexander Bradford Halley and their familys.

Again I am sorry for the incredibly long delay and if I can be of help, please feel free to email me.

Mark Brown

Mark, Could you please forward me the copy of Cornelius' obituary that you have? My ggg-grandmother (Lucy Hutton Petty) was married for the 2nd time to a Cornelius Nafus. They married 27 Feb 1887 in Pleasant Gap. They had a daughther, Daisy Lora Nafus. I don't think this is the same Cornelius, but I want to track down even the smallest lead. She could have been married to one of his sons or brothers. My email address is judigalpin2@aol.com.

Thank you so much! Judi

I do not show thed Alexander that you mention, but my George William Nafus was the son of Cornelious Nafus who was born in Nelson County, Kentucky. George was one of four sons born to Cornelious and Milly or Amelia Wilmarth. He is said to have been born either in Indiana or Iowa. Since someone else has done this genealogy, I do not know. George married Ann Sophia Teasley, who was a sister to my great grandmother. Theresa Rogerson

Yes, I am still working on genealogy. I will try to find the information that you are looking for and return your message. Did you know it was said that they did feed the James and Younger gangs? They are all a very interesting family. Theresa
