My Grandfather had this picture of his half sister for many years he kept it in his wallet wondering what may have happened to her, he never did find out, however i would like to find out what happened to her and perhaps discover some of my Grandfather's Neices or Nephews he never got to meet. I have attached the picture.

I do not know what last name she was raised with it may have been Lily Jean Smith, i have heard from family her married last name was Sawyer. Her mothers name was either Ruth or Blanche, as an aproximate birth date would be 1919-1925 i know its a big gap but my family has not alot of details about her.

I wrote about Lloyd Askins from memory and was in error. Lloyd Lee lived with his grandparents and it was his granddad Gene Askins who traded with us. Bert and Ray Askins did also. About Elmer Askins. I had received a letter from a person who knew I had lived in Nashville and she asked if I would find out the date of Elmer Askins' death.
A reminder not to work from memory but always check notes Sorry for the confusion.

I am looking for anyone who may recognize this man. he was my grandfather.

In 1961 when he passed away, he was most probably working on a farm as a farmhand some where in or around Lamar. He is buried in the Nigh Cemetery but with no marker as far as we can tell.

He was divorced from my grandmother so we never got to know him and would like to chat with anyone who may have.

The Dighero's in my family originated in Casarza Ligure. A sister and a brother immigrated in 1911, followed by my grandmother in 1919. They settled in San Francisco.

Hello, I am wondering if you can help me. I am researching our Sullivan family Line. They lived in the Missouri area from the 1850s through the turn of the century. We are not sure of the eldest parents names but understand that they passed away sometime during the Civil War in the Pest House near Ironton, Missouri. We were also told that this "Pest House" was later referred to as the "Poor Farm". They had several children that were taken in by various family and area people following their parent's death from the Small Pox. Two of the children were William Victor Sullivan (born in Dec 1859) and his brother, John L. Sullivan (born in August 1856). We believe there were two sisters, N.Nancy and Elizabeth (Lizzie). We believe there may have been others but can't be sure. William was reportedly born in Liberty, Iron County, Missouri and in all likliness, so were his siblings. We would love to know more about the family should anyone know. William Victor Sullivan married Etta Caroline Braswell, Lizzie married Nathan Oneal. A small note that a cousin has shared has some information written on it that, "the Sullivans were buried near the "Ivester Farm". We are not sure if there may be a cemetery there somewhere or that they were buried on what is now "private property". We would love to discover the whereabouts of their final resting place. How ironic; I have been doing research on Frank (Sr.)and Clara Thorpe for an article I am writing for the paper about the old mill. Looking up some stuff for their house(s) on South Gulf right now.

Yes, I have access to all the files in the hisotrical society. And since we are in the basement I can upstairs to look for something in the Recorders office.

C. Y. was quite the guy. He sold/bought/fixed up many properties here in Barton County, mostly farms but several houses as well. I can't give you all the info because that would be a lot. Tantalizing Tidbits - WWII town letter

In 2006 I wrote a query for the Tantalizing Tidbits written by Helen and Frank Thorpe. My understanding is that these letters were written to servicemen all over the world to help them keep up with activities in Lamar. Since Helen Thorpe was my great aunt, and Helen and Frank have no living descendants, I am interested in putting together a booklet using these letters. I wish to share them on-line for free. Do any of you know about these letters? Do you know where I can get copies of all of them? Thank you for your assistance.

Unfortunately, I only have the cover page with the printing on the inside of the cover. Since C. Y. Trice is my great grandfather, and Helen Thorpe was my grandmother's sister, I am interested in many items in Lamar. I know that CY bought and sold lots of property in the county, but I don't know how much. Some time I would like to have records of these transactions.

I have never heard of that magazine Karen. I would love to see any scans of it you may have.

I have done a lot of research on Charles Yancy and we have several photos of him at the Historical Society. Him and David Beamer are 2 of my favorite people that made Lamar and Barton County what it is today.

Howell Cemetery is in northeast Barton County Missouri near the town of Milford and Oakton Cemetery also known as Oak Grove is in central Barton County southwest of Lamar at the village of Oakton.

The Fullers are found in Iantha Cemetery, also in Barton County.

Harris' Illustrated Magazine abt 1904

I have a cover from Harris' Illustrated Magazine, vol 1, no 3. It was published monthly at Lamar by Sam T Harris, Jr. Have you heard of the magazine? I can't find out any information about it and my great grandfather's photo, Col. C Y Trice, is on the cover of this issue from February 1904. On the back side of the cover is an article about Trice. I only have the one page and the story continues somewhere else. Can you help? Thank you. Karen

Mary C. Ligon was married to Elijah W. Jenkins and they lived in Barton co. MO. She died some time between July 1902 and 1906. She should be buried in Howell Cem. Barton Co. MO. Elijah remarried Louisa Cox in 1906 then he died 1913 and also is supposed to be in Howell Cem. Barton Co. MO. If anyone could check out the Howell Cem. for them I would be grateful I live in Oregon.
