Surnames: COLLINS, KEMP, JAMES, NICHOLS, ATKINS
Looking for any information on Samuel G. Collins and Elizabeth Kemp Collins. In 1860 Census, they lived in Louter Township, Audrain Co., MO.. They had 2 children; Ann, age 2, and Barba age 3 months. Samuel was killed at the battle of Elkhorn Tavern, AR. 07 Mar. 1862.
I believe Ann was my wife's Gr. Grandmother, Anna E. Collins. Anna married in Jan. 1880 to George V. Atkins at the home of John Robert Nichols. Nichols wife, Martha J. was Elizabeth Kemp Collins sister. Atkins died in 1885 and Anna remarried in 1887 to John S. James. Per 1860 Census, the James family lived in Wilson TWP. John is listed as J. S. James, 5 years old. He died in 1890 in Millersburg.
In Dec. 1861, Samuel left the Missouri State Guard and enlisted in the 1st. MO. CAV. REGT., CSA, from Martinsburg, Audrain Co., MO.
Thank you for any help..... George McKinney
