This message is for anyone that know about the Baxter families in Mississippi or Charleston, SC. After searching the 1860 Census at the National Achives in Washington, DC, I have trace my ancestries back to Amos Baxter a Mulatto who was 54 at the time, he married Mathilda, this was in Charleston, SC. I am told by others family members that we also have relatives in Mississippi. Amos and Mathilda children were Rebecca, James, Francis, Edward and John Baxter. John is my ggfather who married Eliza and they had the following children; James, Jessie, Lela, Lovie, Corina, Willie, Tosie and Cornelius.
