Hi cousin! Judge Pearce Noland is my gr-gr-gr-grandfather. I have information from him to me, but as far as I know no one has the final answer on who his father was. So... if you're looking for proof on that line going further back, I can only offer speculation (got a lot of that, though!).

Cheers,
Liz, of the Mississippi Nolands

Here is the response I attempted to Email:

Thank you very much for your response on the Warren County Message Board and offer of data. My name and address follows this message. I am hopeful of making contact with living descendants of Mary and John Adam who are interested in their ancestry; thinking I might learn more about the lives of their progeny other than what's available from census and obituaries. Are you perchance among those? I will be glad to snail to you a draft of what I've constructed so far, either just the section on Mary and John or all 3 immigrants, should you be interested in the other Hamels. Looking forward to your material, Joe Haining 338 Arapaho Ln Madison, MS 39110.

Thank You so much! The only reasearch I have done in Mississippi was done in Pontotoc where MY Grandmother was from but I had those names from her. I have never tried to find someone's name with out having a true first or last name. I know my daughters, father in law will be so happy to just have a name to trace. I just didn't know where to start with a company that has probably been out of business for years. Thank you again! Jackie

I am trying to help my daughters, father in law find his biological father. His father used a fictitious name of Michael David Crawford during the 1930’ – 1954 in Memphis, TN. He was born about 1900 in Warren, County, and Mississippi. This corresponds to his mother being born in 1910 in Vicksburg Mississippi. Mr. Crawford had five sisters. He and his sisters inherited a plantation and a Caterpillar Agency when their father died. According to Caterpillar the only Agency in the Vicksburg area during this time period was the “Easton Tractor Company”. In 1954 Mr. Crawford had a legal wife and grown children in the Vicksburg area. These few ‘facts’ were acquired from the caseworkers note’s during the adoption process.
We would be extremely grateful if anyone knows the name of the owner of this Company or family.
Thank you for any help in this matter.
The name of the book is THE AMERICAN DECISIONS compiled by A. C. Freeman, 1886.
See page 658 of the book. (Google page numbers are different)
In this book the lawsuit Anding v. Davis is reported. I don't understand the legal talk, but it appears that the children of Davis are suing the heirs of Martin Anding about 1860. It says that Bradford Davis moved to Texas after his wife died in Yazoo County and that Bradford was assinated Sept. 1840 in Texas. Davis' children are named.
I believe there is an old church on Oak Ridge Road near Flower Hill Road. I was told by a local hunter, that there were some Davis' buried near a creek branch near Flowers Hill Road (east side), just south of Oak Ridge Road. I was also told that there were some graves off of Davis road in the woods. Walter and Anna owned land in that area. My wife and I have been wanting to get back there and do some more searching. I appreciate your assistance. Thanks

Descendants of John Adam Schaffer

For the purpose of compiling this branch of my Hamel family tree, I am seeking contact with living descendants of John Adam Schaffer, “Sr.” (1844-1898) and Mary Anna Hamel (1840-1931) who married in 1868 in Yazoo County but spent their married life in Vicksburg. Their children (with year of birth) were: John Adam, Jr., (abt. 1869); Ella (1871); George (abt. 1874); Bertha Annie (1876); Edmund (1879); and Margaret (1882). The latter never married.
John, Jr., though married, had no children. Ella married Frank Schmidt and had children: Lorena, b. 1893; Frank, b. 1896; and Lucille, b.1899. The latter died before the 1910 census. George apparently had only one child, Sylvia, b. 1904. Bertha married John White and had children: John D. and Bertha C. who were 19 and 17 years of age, resp., at the time of the 1920 census. Edmund married Nettie (a step-daughter of Pasquale Manzione) whose maiden name I’ve not ascertained. They had two children: Vivian M., age 24, and Edmund, Jr., age 11, according to the 1930 census of Warren County.
Lorena Schmidt married Joseph Bonelli and had children: Joseph, Jr., and Robert, ages 12 and 10, according to the 1930 census of Warren County.
Sylvia Schaffer married (1) Sam Garst and (2) Robert Holmes. I have no other information about Sylvia.
If you have any information about any of these people I would be most appreciative if you would contact me at joeyazoo@bellsouth.net.
In today's Vicksburg, Mississippi newspaper " The Vicksburg Post" dated 22 February 2009, there is a photo of Kuhn Memorial Hospital along with information. It is under the "Feature's" tab at top of the page on that paper's site, if you want to view that.
The article states that it was named Kuhn Memorial Hospital in the 1970s, although I can recall it being called that long before then. The article claims that it was a state hospital also, that was a home that was built in the 1830s by A.B. Reading on Openwood Street, which was later purchased by the city and used as a hospital.
Hope this helps in some way.

Actually I do not recall there ever being a tractor company in the area of Warren County, now that I have had time to reflex on it, but that doesn't mean that it was not there either. I would also suggest checking the Yazoo County area and the area to the north of Jackson, Hinds County.
If you will send me what infomation you do have on the biological father, say his actual name, if you have it. His mother's name when she was born in Warren Co. in 1910 and her parents names? What was the father's name when he was born in 1900, was it Crawford then? Where was the plantation? Or anything else that will help I will help you seach. Or have you already secured all this information and all you need is to know is who owned the tractor company? My email off this site is spoiledmagnolia@verizon.net - Jane
Hi,
I am researching the Potticary/Pothecary family in England- I've traced my Potticarys back to 1750 so far. I came across your posting re Patience; there is a Patience Potticary listed on the familySearch.com site, born in 1827 in Hilperton, Wiltshire, England, parents John Potticary and Elizabeth. They may or maynot be connected to my tree I havent been able to confirm that yet. Do you know who Patiences parents were or why she would have come to your part of the world?
Hope this helps
Regards
Gaye

My ancestor is Wilson T. Cummings, and I had been hitting a roadblock concerning his parentage until I came across your post. Do you have anymore information about the family? I've been able to find some details about W.T., but it has been rather sketchy thus far. Thanks in advance.
