AUSTINTOWN – Fancie Monroe passed away May 20, 2014, at 12:35 p.m. at Humility House in Austintown, Ohio.
Fancy lived to be a Blessed 104 years old.
Fancie was born Aug. 12, 1909, in Tippah County, Mississippi.
Fancie was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Youngstown, Ohio. (Mahoning County)
She enjoyed singing and telling stories to anyone who would listen. She loved to tell everyone about her days in the South picking cotton and planting in the fields.
Although she was not as mobile as she used to be, she still loved to dance and would have everyone in the room laughing.
Fancie was a walking history book. She loved cooking. Her children and grandchildren all said she made the best banana pudding in the world.
Everything Fancie cooked was homemade and prepared with a lot of love.
Her memories will be cherished by those she leaves behind including her daughter-in-law, Sarah Monroe; grandchildren Diane Braddock, Wanda Kay Gage, Stanley Monroe Jr., Marvin Monroe, Evelyn Stargell, Doris Bullock, James Monroe Jr., Molly Seals and Joey Monroe; and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
Fancie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Monroe, whom she married Oct. 6, 1928; two sons, Stanley and James Monroe; four brothers, Tom, Ted, Allen, and Roy; and five sisters, Lucille, Essie, Carey, Flora, and Onnie.
The family would to thank the staff of Humility House for their love, care, and compassion provided to Fancie.
A private service will be held at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Youngstown, OH (Mahoning County).
