MANSFIELD: Joseph Nathan CARTER, 82, died Sunday, November 27, 2011 in Mansfield Memorial Homes after an extended illness.
Mr. Carter was born Monday, April 22, 1929 to the late Oscar and Savannah Carter in Sumner, Mississippi and had lived in Mansfield, Ohio the past 62 years.
He retired from CPC/GM Plant in 1991 after 29 years of service.
Joe was a member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church where he served in the Male Chorus, and attended Sunday School faithfully.
Joe is survived by 3 sons: Woodrow (Audry) Carter, Mansfield, Kenneth Carter, Ontario, and McKenzie Williams, Louisville, Kentucky; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one step grandchild; Godson: Jarvis Hudson-Bay, Mansfield; former wife with whom he remained friends; Eunice Carter, Mansfield, Ohio
In addition to his parents Joe was also preceded in death by 6 sisters, Precious Carter, Earnestine Carter, Emmerline Carter-Wallace, Eva Carter-Fortner, Roberta Carter-Pearson, and Alberta Carter-Molet, 7 brothers, Dewitt Carter, Chesterfield Carter, Willie Carter, James Carter, Oryzine "OC" Carter, Eurlicous Carter, and CW Wheeler.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 10:00 A.M. in the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with his pastor Rev. Clinton N. Hearns officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, Ohio.
The family will also receive friends at the home of Eunice, 500 Parkview St., Apt. 2, daily from 4-8 p.m. till the day of services.
