Hi Tom,
Doing my
MIles Family research a couple of years ago the
Evan Magee killing naturally popped up and, below, is an email quote about the application from a fellow online researcher.
It probably won't reveal much more than you already know except verify there is an application somewhere and the possible name of the killer of
Evan,
Revell, noted in the app. Off topic a bit but I even did a little digging on
Revells' in the Westville area and couldn't hit on anything. As you probably know, Westville was supposedly a "wild town' in those days with probably a lot of transients but a transient being the killer is just a surmise on my part.
I thought I had an image copy in my files from a copy of the newspaper clipping but can't seem to find it. I may have seen it somewhere on the internet, I'll keep looking.
QUOTE FROM RESEARCHER:
When Naomi made application for a pension based on
Evan Magee's service in the War of 1812 she made it as "Naomi
Magee". The application was made in
Simpson Co Nov 23 1857: "Naomi
Magee, age 62, widow of soldier, said she married him in St. Tammany
Parish La about 1816 and that her maiden name was Naomi Short. The soldier died in
Simpson Co in 1836 "of a wound inflicted upon him by one
Revell in Westville."
good luck
