Actually, he died shortly after he was enumerated for the 1860 census. Shot point blank in the chest for interfering in an argument. It wasn't in Tupelo. It was in Okolona, Itawamba County, just about 10 miles south of where his land was in Pontotoc County [now in Lee County]. I've been on the land and in Itawamba, Pontotoc, etc. Okolona was a part of the original Cotton Belt of Mississippi well before the more famous Delta region gained fame for major cotton production. Wash may have been selling cotton in Okolona. Who knows. Anyway, Liberty's brother Joseph Robert was my 2nd g-grandfather.
