Last night I noticed that familysearch.org has this record online. I thought that might be of interest to some of you. Also, I have some questions about it. I looked through it last night hoping for some hints about my family. Specifically, I'm looking for an Anton Lynn, in the 1878 records. He would have been 13 at the time. I didn't find him. Does the list only include children who were in school? There were children on the lists as old as 18. Perhaps he was just not in school, or maybe his family moved elsewhere. I know that his family lived in Panola County in the 1870 census, and that they lived in Pope County Arkansas at the time of the 1880 census. He lived with his aunt and uncle, and they a child born in 1875 and another born in 1879, and both consistently gave their birthplace as Mississippi in later records such as the census. I've been assuming that the family stayed in Panola County until they moved to Pope County, but I realized last night that they might have moved elsewhere in Mississippi first. Any guesses on where might be a likely county to move to from that area at that time? This is where they lived according to the 1870 census: post office was Como, county was Panola, township 8, range 7
