MANSFIELD: Clarence Edward Bridgeman, 78, passed this life on Monday, May 11, 2015 at his home after a brief illness.
Mr. Bridgeman was born on Friday, October 16, 1936 to the late John and Debora Lee (Thompson) Bridgeman in Canton, Mississippi and had lived in Mansfield, Ohio the past 64 years.
Clarence was a 1955 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School where he played baseball and football, and received an Associate Degree from Ohio State Mansfield.
He retired from General Motors in 1988 after 32 years of service.
After his retirement Clarence went to work at Kaufmans Department Store in the Men's Department for the next 15 years.
Six months after his second retirement he began to miss helping customers put clothes together and began working part time at K & G in Columbus, Ohio.
Clarence was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board for many years, and a mason with the Pride Of Ohio Masonic Lodge # 80.
Clarence is survived by his wife Lucille; four daughters, Deborah Bridgeman-Wright, Mansfield, Ohio, Ingrid (Robin) Doughty, Louisville, Kentucky, Judy Bridgeman, Flint, Michigan, and LaToya (Scott) Hutton, Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren; sister, Debora Marie Pierce of Tampa, Florida; special cousin, Doris Howard, Mansfield, nephew, Dion Wright, Dayton, and niece, Tomeka Pierce, Indianapolis, Indiana.
In addition to his parents Clarence was also preceded in death by his brother, Joel Bridgeman; and sister Johnnie Wright.
Funeral services will be held Monday, at 10:00 AM in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the church beginning at 9 AM where Masonic Memorial Service will begin at 9:15 AM. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, Ohio. (Richland County)
